In the future, please be a little more informative in the thread title (just a request). "Great article" doesn't tell us a thing in regards to who wrote it or what it's about, which often leads to double-postings over the same article. Something like "Great article: David Hyde on Parcells' strategy" would tell people a lot more.
As for the article itself...
"It's inevitable
Jason Taylor will be traded."
I disagree. I'm not saying it won't happen, but I would hardly call it inevitable. I think that depends more on what another team would offer them than it does on who they signed or didn't sign.
"If there was hope of a two-year turnaround before Parcells' plan started to focus this free agency period, make it three years now."
If he gives any rationale for such a statement, I completely missed it.
"
John Beck remains the new regime's hope at quarterback."
As much as I agree (or at least hope he's right), this is another area that he could have gone more in-depth with.
"Scratch Louisiana State defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey as the No. 1 pick, if you hadn't already. The trade for
Jason Ferguson (and signing of two other tackles) said as much."
I pretty much had already done so due to his injury issues, but didn't Miami sign just ONE other tackle (Randy Starks), not TWO?
"Well, the signings of special-teamers Charlie Anderson, Reggie Torbor and Sean Ryan have special team players written all over them.... Have you seen how many linebackers signed on here?"
This sounds a bit inconsistent to me. Why should Channing Crowder be scared of "special-teamers [who] have special team players written all over them"?
"Parcells.... evidently loved Ernest Wilford and Sean Ryan when they came out of the draft and got them on this second go-round — Wilford, despite having knee and ankle issues."
Yep, he loved Ryan so much HE DRAFTED HIM! HELLO?!?!
Sean Ryan, 27, tight end, Jets -
drafted by Parcells-led Cowboys in fifth round of 2004; played two seasons under Parcells before being traded to the Jets in August 2006.
Dolphins' interest? 9/10.
Parcells obviously liked him during his two years, and just because he was traded doesn't mean Ireland didn't either. Dallas simply had two starting-caliber tight ends (Witten and Fasano) and saw an opportunity to get draft picks for a backup. But the Dolphins are severely lacking at tight end so it wouldn't be surprising if he were brought in to compete.
And even if he hadn't, where did Hyde get his clairvoyant powers that told him that Parcells signing them is attributable to Parcells "lov[ing them] when they came out of the draft" and not to something else, such as game tape since they've been in the NFL?
I thought his other three points were fairly obvious, over all.
