Just to let you guys know I just got insider and I love it. I live in Canada and it wasn't available here in the past. Anyways...
The article is discussing the transition to the new defense in Miami. I will give you the key points so the mods don't just take the post down.
They say that the two most important CB statistics are yards per attempt and completion percentage. Somewhat obvious. They then stat Madisons stats from last year and his stats from this year.
Madison 2004:
YPA - 6.4
Comp - 50.9
Both ranked top 15
Madison 2005:
YPA - 8.6
Comp - 50
But don't forget that Tillman knocked Madison down when trying to tackle Steve Smith on that slant play that went for 58 yards. If you say that Smith only got 14 yards Madisons YPA drop way down to 5.9.
Surtain 2004:
YPA - 8.6!
Comp - 59
Both of which are not good at all.
Howard 2005 (his replacement):
YPA - 10.6
Comp - 63.2
This also doesnt take into account the 27 penatly yards against him for holding calls and PI. Also, 4 out of the 6 incompletes thrown his way were just poorly thrown balls. They should have been completed if they weren't badly thrown.
Daniels 2005:
YPA - 4.2
Comp - 36.8
Granted this is against the slot receiver but if you look at his start against Carolina he had:
YPA - 3
Comp - 25
3 passes his way were inaccurate. But even if those completed he would have ended up with a YPA of 5.5.

Shows what some people were saying last year. That Madison out played Surtain. It is nice to see that even though there is all this talk about him losing a step and falling off he is still performing at a high level. It is also nice to see that we ended up getting rid of the guy who performed worse even though he had the higher conceived value. Finally, this told us what we all knew. Reggie Howard sucks. he really isn't covering anyone. Travis Daniels is playing well and in fact is playing amazing. Just from these numbers we might not be too bad against the pass after a few more things are worked out. After all our safties are still good in Jones and Schulters and since we are not playing man to man as much anymore safties are much more useful. In a zone every player gets a zone and therefor every player should be equally important.
