Winning is a Habit
Yesterday I saw some things that they changed to get a W. One of the most noticable things was lining up Vontae on Moss for most of the game. We always hear how the CBs never switch sides, but for this game, they lined up our BEST CB on Moss all day. They also gave Vontae the appropiate help and didn't let Moss tear us up like usual.
I know Welker had a huge game, but sometimes you have to pick your poison and I much rather have Welker get 160 yards and no TDs than Moss having 100+ and 2 TDs like he has done many times before to us.
That play by Aiken was very discouraging to me. It was about as close to offensive PI as you can get. If you go back and watch that play, you can see Aiken put his left hand on Sean's left shoulder just as he is preparing to jump and holds him down. I still think Sean should have made that play, but it was very close to being PI by Aiken.
All year I have seen NE's secondary get torched and I am glad the coaches finally decided to attack a team's weakness rather than trying to run on a very good run stuffing team. They must have worked on this all week and I really liked the unbalanced line they showed in the game on passing plays. I really think it caught the Pats off gaurd a little and it showed because Henne had all day to throw.
I know these coaches have taken a lot of heat recently (including from me), but they deserve recognition for a great game called against the Pats. Sparano had our guys ready to go and I think his "suggestions" to Henning about the play calls really made a difference. the loss to Buffalo was a tough one, but any team in any week can beat another and that has happened quite a bit this year. If you're still flamed about the loss to Buffalo, just think how the Steelers fans feel after their Super Bowl winning coach lost to the likes of Oakland and Kansas City.
Here's to another great coached game this coming week and for the rest of the year! Go PHINS!
