Although I did not blame the front office for the two prior holdouts. Brown got the richest non qb deal ever at the time plus 20 mill guaranteed so it seems his agent was the holdup and Jason Allen who I cannot blame the front office for going for 6 years on.

They got all draft picks in on time and everybody is ready for training camp. So whether you like or hate thier draft they will at least be here to get all the attention they deserve. With 2 prior holdouts you have to feel that they worked hard to get the job done. So thats definately one positive for the year.

We may have our disagreements on a lot of issues on here bro but I have to say I am extremely pleased as well with the front office and their accomplishments. It sure is nice to not have the looming holdout problem this training camp. It is pretty hard to believe that everyone is in on time. Especially taking into consideration that we have ten rookie draft picks this year.

Lets hope this will bring good team chemistry. There won't be any excuses that is for sure.

It seems as though all the issues and uncertainty died out over the last few weeks. Culpepper got released, Mormino and Ginn signed. Now all we have to do is practice and play. No issues going into training camp............nice feeling.

So if there are no holdouts, what are we going to talk about here?

j/k

Great Job, now coach them up, see if we can find a good replacement for McMike, and for goodness sakes, no injuries this year in camp or preseason.

The RW threads will start popping up again any time now... 5,4,3,2,1

Who in the hell is Ricky Williams?

Seriously though I am really looking forward to the camp battles. We will have plenty to talk about. Like getting this offense back on track. Personally I think we have a real good rookie class. Very exciting stuff is ahead.

After all the drama thats been going on this off season...this is the first time we can all take a deep breath and be relieved, no big issues anymore....and that feels good...heres to a great and healthy season guys!!!! GO FINS!!!!:ffic:

RW...oh yeah......

Just when I thought we were out...he pullls us back in......

We have bigger fish to fry, like watching Trent Green to make certain that he still can play, rooks on offensive line and defensive line, Ted Ginn's foot, and whether or not Feeley and Fields can perform.

And the upcoming Joey Porter teamate practice fight.

For me...I don't know about Feeley...the name it's just too similar....

Good post. I agree, even though I was not happy with the way the Daunte situation was handled, I've been on board with almost everything else the FO has done. I hope this is the norm and not a trend, I don't want to go back to holdouts next year. I honestly believe the Players and their agents need to be given a little less power (veterans are different because of the fact they have a history in the NFL).

I understand it's a business, but you can't tell me the rookies and teams are so far apart that the Players feel like they will be underpaid especially since they've never played a down in the NFL so they have the right to hold out for more. There needs to be a point where they put a limit on a players salary when they've never played a game in the NFL, it's unfair that a player that's never played a game at the pro level gets 20 mil guaranteed, while a player that's been in the league 11 years makes 3 mil with 500,000 signing bonus. It's getting out of hand.

I hate to be Debbie Downer. But, we do still have some issues that will come up.

Chris Chamber's DUI trial is in the middle of August, and he will likely receive some sort of punishment from the league(maybe one game check).

Let's not forget that soon Ricky will be back atop the headlines. He is going to apply for reinstatement in September, and something will be done with him(likely released.)

I agree that there needs to be a rookie salary cap or at least a base salary depending where these kids are drafted. Problem is that the NFLPA will never go for it IMO. If it did happen you would see shorter deals like a 3 year contract. If they have proven themselves after that time they get their payday. Then players would stay or go elsewhere depending on performance. Could bring about a new type of bidding war.

I'm all for it and yes it is out of hand.

This is just another reason for me to LOVE this year's draft class.

This is going to be the best draft class we have had in over 20 years, mark my words.

My applauses go out to Randy Mueller and the Front Office. For once it seems like they are making the smart moves and aquisations. Mueller is doing great job and I hope they keep up the good work. Congrats Front Office!

The NFL needs to have some sort of slotting system similar to what the NBA has, but you are correct in saying that the NFLPA will try to stop that from happening. (they wouldn't be doing their jobs if they didn't)

One thing I hear more and more is some of the longer tenured players talking about being squeezed out of the league a few seasons early because of the money being guaranteed to rookie players. If those sentiments start to rise then the players may want to limit the amount of money going to the rookies and have it go the the veteran players.

One can only hope.

Well honestly, I don't know how they could justify giving someone a big lump of cash when they've done nothing to prove they're worthy of the paycheck. What you do in college is no guarantee you'll do the same in the pros, therefore why should you be paid as such.

The new Commish is going out of his way to project the right image in the NFL, I think the players assoc. needs to also project this image. It's not a good image to project greed and selfishness. We try to teach our kids to earn what they get, in order to get big money you need to earn it and playing in college is not how you earn a big paycheck in the Pro's. You earn a big paycheck in the Pro's by producing, not by projecting. It's not like putting a limit on rookies of say a Million dollars is a slap in the face, goodness it takes most people a lifetime to earn that, so giving the rookies that kind of money until they prove themselves is a more then fair.

With the money the NFL teams save, they can put it into the community that pays for tickets and merchandise. They can put it into a retirement fund and insurance for retired and injured players. There are thousands of things they could do with the money saved. It would end holdouts, that may lead to injuries. It also keeps players like "Pac man" Jones from having more money then god to throw away because he's to immature to handle it. There are a lot of good things that could come from putting a limit on the amount of money a rookie should be given.

I understand we live in a capitalist society and it has it's advantages, but that's not an excuse to pay this kind of money to someone so young and so inexperienced at what he does. There needs to be a limit. It's getting out of hand. And the crazy part is, compared to MLB, NFL players are grossly underpaid.
