Ah, the life of a sports bettor. I ended up playing seperate bets on Miami and the under, rationalizing that Denver was unlikely to score the 22+ points that it would take to cost me both bets.
I was sweating out the under 39 and virtually conceded when Denver got the first down with maybe a minute left. But that 5 yard penalty gave me hope and with 7 seconds left I told my dad I just wanted an aggressive defensive play, and would take my chances.
I guess that qualified as aggressive. Did it have to be Jason Taylor? Maybe any other defensive linemen in the league other than Taylor or Julius Peppers and that's nothing but a fumble and fall on it.
Awesome win. This team has plenty of personnel holes that will be exposed in certain games, but so refreshing to witness downfield passes. The Feeley supporters were just wrong, well intentioned but way off. The lifetime stats of 7.1 yards per attempt for Frerotte and 5.8 for Feeley were all you needed to know regarding the mindset and basic ability of the two.
Also, the extreme highlight to me was watching Keith Traylor. What a titanic difference in ability between him and blob Larry Chester! Traylor may be a short term fix but he still has enough quickness and lateral ability and so much more instinctive than Chester. Traylor was even getting doubleteamed on the bull rush, for heaven's sakes.
The one downside is Chris Chambers is simply not a top notch #1, not matter how much we want to pretend otherwise, and incredibly frustrating. Stepping out of bounds needlessly and dropping the simple TD were just more evidence.
