I don't know what Saban sees in this guy. He doesn't have the leg to boom kicks when we need him to. And he has no touch on the ball when we need him to pin teams deep. Usually punters can do at least one of those things. I know he holds for Mare, but there has got to be someone better out there. He is killing us with field position this year. I know this is nit-picking, but with our ball-control offense, the punter is a huge factor. Other than that, keep running the R&R Express!!

Did you hear the stat at the beginning of the game?

Best net average in the AFC among punters. His punts look ugly but they are effective. The return man on the other team often has trouble fielding it because his punts go off the side of his foot.

He's been fairly precise in pinning teams down before today.

He'll be fine. He's just a punter, anyway.

Funny that is rarely a complement for a punter. I agree though, ugly but effective

No way we get rid of him. He is geting the job done, didnt he have a 50+ yard punt inside the 20 today?

The guy has the 5th best net average in the league at 41.4. The best in the league is 42.0

Next teams are only averaging 4.8 yards per return against him which yet again, has him in the top five for Punters.

His average is 11th best in the league and he only has 1 TB while having 9 downed inside the 20. Which means on the short punts he is punting them right.

If you are gonna critiscize a guy make sure you critiscize the right one because you obviously know not what you are talking about here.

I agree, and I am shocked how I keep reading on in this thread to find out hes tops in the league in punting... it seems like for every good punt, he has 3 bad ones.

He's inconsistent but effective...I don't have a lot of issues with Jones.

He ain't no Mark Royals though....

Ain't that the truth. I remember hearing that he would wear a watch on the field so he could check the hang time on the ball after he kicked it.
I've never confirmed if it was true, but it gives you some idea how good he was.
Jones has potential, I wouldn't get down on him too much yet.

pisser moaner.

Mod Edit: That's inappropriate...tone it down please.

I'll say this again and again. Jon Ryan will be a Pro Bowl punter. He played in the CFL this year and we should sign him this off season

I believe that was Reggie Roby that wore a watch. That guy used to BOOM some kicks!
