With the bitter taste of defeat to an overachieving season, it is time to focus squarely on the offseason.

1) Most importantly, it looks like Bill Parcells is staying so there will be stability from the top down.

2) Decide which free agents to sign and let go. Personally, I sign Crowder, Bell and Goodman. If Crowder wants the moon, then he may have to go as well but I am hoping he wants avg starting MLB money cause that is what he is worth. Carey will probably want too much and I am hoping we can find a better safety than Hill. As for free agents to sign, I am not sure who is available.

3) Look to trade Beck and Porter. For Beck, I don't care if it is a 7th, get something. As for Joey, yes he is our best LB and yes he had a great year. I still say trade him now while we might still get a #1 pick for him. This will likely be our only chance to get that kind of value for him. If you can't get a #1 in return, then keep him and hope he still has 2 good years in the tank.

4) Draft. For an 11-5 team, we sure could use upgrades in a lot of places. Here is to hoping Smiley and D Thomas come back healthy. If not, we may need to go OL more than once. The NT from Boston College would be a very nice pick but I am not sure if he really improves the team next year. Still, if he is available, that is who I take.
In position order of importance we need...
1) OL (dependandt on Smiley and D Thomas prognosis).
2) LB
3) Safety
4) CB
5) WR
We definitely do not need QB, RB, FB, TE, or kickers at this time. If we trade Beck, then we can look for a young project at QB very late in the draft.

With our schedule next year, we are going to have to improve to have a shot at a +.500 record and division title again, especially if Brady is back. Then again, Cassell is for real so not sure how much that matters. The 2008 Fins proved to me they were an above average team bordering on good. This offseason is key if we are to truly turn the corner and get back to the tradition of winning of old.

Any thoughts on the above or other ideas for offseason success?

I am tempted to be down on Penny because of this game. But his play this season has been pretty damn good. I live near Philly & am not a big McNabb fan but watching him zip some of his passes pokes at me when compared to what I see from Penny. Maybe some conditioning in the off season? :)

Anyway I keep Beck. Penny still has been injury prone & if he gets hurt we are down to an unknown & a Cleo Lemon type. Beck still has some potential IMO.

From the little I have seen from Hill I don't want him starting. He made a key mistake in the final couple of drives in the Jets game that I did not like.

Worried about the comebacks of Camarillo & Smiley.

Keep building. Draft. Some smart FA's An established WR & some depth.

Porter isn't going anywhere. The team loves him and pretty sure he is the D captain.

I don't think we are gonna get appropriate value for Porter on the trade market. Even I am not sure if I agree with trading him because we just don't have any other consistent play-makers on the defense, we just have a lot of young guys who seem to be very good role players. My biggest concern with this team as a whole is that I know that despite our division title, we lack real game-changers on either side of the ball.

biggest need in the off-season in my opinion is a pass rusher, thats before a big wide reciever, oline, or even defensive backs imo.

i love roth's heart and intensity, but plain and simple, he is not an outside linebacker. whether it be through the draft or free agency we must upgrade that position first and foremost

I dont think we should or will trade Porter. A lot of you guys overlook how important heart and leadership is, and Porter has that.

Our team looked dead out there when Bess went out of the game. We need to upgrade WR depth either in FA or the draft. Not the top priority, but definitely up there.

I agree, no way we should trade Porter. Need another pass rusher opposite of him. Not sure if there is one in FA, so we need to look into the draft. I would like to know the status of Smiley and D. Thomas before we look at OG. What about Murphy, the other guard we drafted? Another need on the offense is a big play receiver. I like Bess, Cammarillo, Ginn and London, but the first 3 are basically slot guys. Defensively, linebackers, inside and outside. And a corner or two and a free safety.

Ginn is much better than just a slot guy.

Stud WR, huge young NT, playmaking LB and depth on o-line. That's my shopping list. Give me a safety opposite Bell as a stocking stuffer.

I'm still crying in my beer...:(.

Offseason priority should be

1-Pass Rusher
2-WR
3-FS that makes plays
4-DT

A #1 pick for Porter?? Matt Millen isnt in the league anymore son
