Greatest Running Back in Dolphins history?

I'm with the person that said David Overstreet too. Would have loved to see him play for 10 years....that guy had ton of talent and the line was still pretty good. It was too bad he was taken out by an accident. I think he would have been in his prime when Marino came into the league...he was drafted in 1980 or 81???

the qestion was not about potential. results.....

Watched em all, for me its Csonka, then Morris, then Ricky. I would also like to throw in two third down backs, Kiick and Nathan, for their versatility.

Oh yeah...that's what I keep telling the kids who think Ricky was better than Zonk. Just would have been nice to see Overstreet play. He was our Lenny Biase (sp?) in my opinion.

i love ronnie brown but he hasn't done crap for us yet. zonk and morris are unstoppable in the old series madden games. :lol:

Exactly. Ronnie has the talent and work ethic to top this list, but it's far too early to put him on it yet. Give him a few years and he'll be a star.

Best running backs in Dolphins history I would have to go with Czonka (never saw him play but he was a BEAST on Madden) and then I would have to go with Ricky. Honestly as far as Backs go I would think Ricky was the best we ever had. Some of the older timers can correct me if I am wrong but didnt we have a more balanced attack back then? Ricky led the league in rushing at a time when EVERYONE knew we were going to run the ball. If God forbid Ricky had gotten injured the year after he lead the league instead of quiting we would all (well almost all) be saying he was the best we ever had. As far as PURE running back tallent I would have to go with Ricky but as far as doing the most as a running back I would go with Czonka. Brown.... We are going to have to wait and see.

Zonk= hall of fame

RW= hall of shame

RW's career right now does not put him in the hall of fame....hopefully, he gets there after coming back to us and putting up some more numbers...

can't help but notice how they both seem to love nature...

I forgot about Delvin.He belongs in that second tier list too.So does Troy Stradford who was impressive and had a couple of very big games for us before he was injured.

How about Norm Bulash & Don Nottingham?

At his age it's unlikely that RW will ever produce enough to get him in the HOF even if you discount the whole quitting on his teammates thing. Despite his great potential, he led the league in rushing once, that's it. It puts him in the same class as Charles White or Christian Okoye and behind guys like Jamal Lewis and Terrel Davis (who are also unlikely to make the HOF).

Ditto for me. I also really liked Delvin Williams. I remember having a poster of his, as he was my favorite player for a couple years.

It's not like I want to correct you, but you sort of asked. The 70's team passed the ball like 7 times in one SB game. During the undefeated season they ran the ball 588 times :eek: , and passed 256 times. Every team knew what was coming, and they could not stop it. There was a form of balance in that when they did pass the ball deep they connected quite often but it was not often they tried.

As for Ricky, he sure is as talented as there is but he has not always shown that talent. That's why I've debated with a few of those who mentioned him as the best. The thread title asked for the greatest, not the greatest talent.

Come on now, I am a big boy and like I said I never got to watch those guys play. When I got hooked on the Dolphins David Woodly, AJ, blackwoods etc etc where on the team. So your rebuttle is well accepted. You are correct it side greatest in Dolphins history NOT most tallented RB we ever had. I did say Czonka in the beginning though lol. Now, Ricky is Ricky and for some reason I have a soft spot for the guy but I think if we didnt RIDE HIM INTO THE GROUND, and not for the suspensions, he would have gone down as the greatest in terms of production.

I stand corrected.

Character Issues? The dude suffers from extreme social anxiety, he used Mary J to help cope, he now uses yoga and herbal supplements, he is a genuine great person, who has humility and class very rare for a talent of that caliber........back on the point Czokna had a better/longer career to date, but Ricky is not done yet. and heres to hoping Ronnie steps it up this year

I wonder if Cszonka would have been a fullback in today's NFL?...... I have a feeling he might have bulked up and become a lineman maybe or a linebacker
