ARLINGTON, Texas – If the Miami Dolphins made Erik Walden a scapegoat when they cut him earlier this season, they also freed him up for what’s been a highly rewarding season with the Green Bay Packers.
The Dolphins cut Walden after their third game because he was responsible for a blocked punt against the New York Jets. The move didn’t improve their special-teams performance – the next week against the New England Patriots, their special teams melted down and gave up a blocked punt, a blocked field goal and kick-off return for a touchdown that cost special-teams coach John Bonamego his job.
The Packers signed Walden on Oct. 27, four weeks after the Dolphins cut him.
After Frank Zombo’s knee injury, Walden locked down the job as the starter at right outside linebacker because of his play over the last five games, including winning NFC defensive player of the week for 16-tackle, three-sack performance against Chicago in the regular-season finale.

This one really hits home, I hate when we cut players who turn out to be stars elsewhere
