And is two years behind in the offense.

this is the key to me, cause this isn't some rinky dink offense of old... this is a system where you have to know where you recievers are going to be and were they can hot route off too... and the fact that feeley is right there with frerotte to me means hes ahead in the competition, because if he can keep up with just learning the system, he'll have to be much better once he konws it to the extent of frerotte

If Saban (and Houck) does indeed see a future for Hadnot at center, why wouldn't he just move the kid to center right off the bat?? Was his plan to let the kid further develop as a starting NFL lineman before moving him to the pivot?? Was it Houck's recommendation??

I don't think Saban came in with any preconceived notions about Rex Hadnot or any of the other linemen. I think what he's doing right now is trying to move people around and get his best five that can play on the field. What we know right now is that Vernon Carey is almost a lock for left tackle with the way he has been playing. Stockar McDougle has played very well at right tackle and is a lock. Jeno James is a lock at left guard. Rex is a lock somewhere. I think McKinney is probably struggling enough at center that Nick is looking into moving Rex to center while trying John St. Clair at right guard at times, McKinney at right guard at times, and you may even see Damion Cook and Damion McIntosh get some looks at right guard as well. IMO, Nick wants to see if he can get better guard play from someone other than Rex than he could get out of McKinney at center. If he can, then Rex will move to center. If not, then Rex will stay at guard and McKinney will likely stay at center.

The key thing is that AJ looks better in 11 on 11(game sit) drills not 7 on 7(practice sit)

Hey, I put in some effort though with the quotes!!

Saban would be proud of me for personalizing it and going the extra mile. :)

If you put any content on a news item thread you will be nearly always be beaten to the punch by someone who has seen the same item but who just posts the link or a one sentence initial post.

Looks to me like the longer AJ is in this offense, the better he is getting. Gus has two years on him in this offense, and AJ is keeping the competition close at this point. That gives you a good idea of what his upside may be.

Exactly my thoughts. You stole my thoughts.

And that right there speaks to Feeley's reputation as a poor practice player. Pretty encouraging.

I think he might stop locking onto receivers once he starts being able to anticipate where his receivers are supposed to be. And that will take time. Hopefully learn to put some touch on his shorter throws. I cannot understand how some guys can throw a pass 100 mph to a receiver who's right in front of them.

Also for those who've been to camp. Is Feeley moving around and stepping up in the pocket?? That was a major problem last year.

..."If you read in between the lines of what Nick Saban said about Rex and Seth McKinny on Tuesday..."

Bedard has yet to learn that you don't READ BETWEEN THE LINES with Nick Saban. He will learn...yes he will... Saban is not a read between the lines kind of guy. He is very deliberate in what he has to say.

It appears that Saban finally has the press trained not to ask anymore stupid "hypothetical" questions. Now if he can only train them to stop gazing into that crystal ball thingy.

Would you want to step up in the pocket, knowing Seth
was in front of you?

When I read the transcript of the post-practice interview with Saban (where he made the comments on Hadnot and McKinney), I had the same reaction that Bedard did. Saban mentions that Hadnot has the "push" and McKinney is "smart", but Hadnot is "smart" too. But he didn't say that McKinney has any "push" to him. Based on the TC reports, I think McKinney just has a lot of "pull" to him.
