According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Greg Bedard, the loudest Combine chatter of late has been that Bears TE Greg Olsen is on the block.

One rumor making the rounds had Olsen going to the Pats for one of the team's three second-round picks. Olsen's skills are a poor fit for Mike Martz's offense and the Bears don't have an early-round pick this year, so the chatter makes sense on the surface. The Bears could then pursue Brandon Manumaleuna as a blocking tight end

What do you guys think what kinda compensation would the bears be asking for since he is to no value to Martz offense he would be an awesome upgrade to our TE's

thoughts?

i like Olsen but i dont know if i would want to give up a second round pick for him

Dont know why they would wanna trade their best WR/TE

I guess Martz does not use Te very much in his O...but he has WR Skills...

I would trade for him but would not give up a 2nd for him...

Not sure why the Pats would trade for him they had Watson who had similar skill set and they never really threw him the ball

Look at when Martz was in San Francisco, he underutilized the hell out of Vernon Davis.

He leaves, and Vernon Davis had a nice year last season.

to some what answer your question from what I have read from rotoworld and other nfl sources Martz like blocking TE's run and pass blocking TE's Olsen is more of a dallas clark type guy go out there and stretch the field as another receiver type guy not so much as a blocker. If I remember correctly no TE has had more then 400 yards per season under Martz as a HC or OC

Martz always de-emphasizes the TE position.

Well, if Parcells and company wind up spending a 2nd rounder in the draft on a tight end, we officially have reason to be pissed if Olsen could be had for the same price.

No thanks to Olsen...We have other needs bigger than TE>

Last year MIA had at times a dominate running game. At no point in the past 2 seasons, has MIA's TE's been game changers. Its to the point where Fasano is consistent in disappearing GAMES at a time. If the offense can't get the S or the LB's off the LOS, MIA will continue to struggle to open up between the hashes.

MIA needs a TE who can open up the seams and get the 8th man out of the box. And a QB's best friend is always a nice pass catching TE. So yes MIA has a dire need at TE.

I would like to see more production out of Olsen before I trade a 2nd rounder for him.

Olsen was a first round pick just a few ryears back so i doubt he truly falls too far.

I am not sure I would want to trade for anyone at TE, as Jimmy Graham will be available in the 2nd and probably the 3rd round. He is 6'6''+ and had the 2nd best 40 time at the combine. He is very raw, but we have 3 very solid blocking TEs, so he could have the freedom to mainly run routes, and out run/jump defenders to make plays. I think he is by far our best option, as we need big target in the red zone, and we need someone to keep the SS/ILB honest so 9 men cant play the run.

here are his stats just so we can see what he can bring to the table

6'5 255lbs age 24

g rec yds avg lng td
2007 14 39 391 10.0 31 2
2008 16 54 574 10.6 52 5
2009 16 60 612 10.2 41 8

seems to me that he has been improving over three seasons he has potential to be a really good TE now will Jimmy Graham turn out to be an elite TE we dont know but my point is I rather get someone thats still young and is on a good pace to be a very reliable TE rather than a raw and project type TE just IMO.
