There is no debate, there is no search, there are no "high level candidates" this is our GM. It will be confirmed in a few hours.

this isn't even a move with Tannenbaum here. Grier will make copies and get Starbucks. Big deal

Yep, while Grier may be highly regarded in league circles he is nothing but Tannebaum's puppet in Miami. According to Darlington he will basically have the same role he has now except add pro scouting to it. Looks like Tannebaum has a real life Madden franchise now...

What people call a puppet dance is in reality the creation of a FO that is going to work together with same philosophy and vision in the quest to win games.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah! **** US!

Looking at the flip side, a lot of people have been angry for letting guys like, Gaine and Bowles leave. Well we finally kept and promoted one of our own.

It's also an underhanded ploy to skirt the Rooney Rule and a power grab.

Tannenbaum is a snake.

Seriously who were other legitimate candidates tho?

There are a slew of other candidates. However, that is my point: if the team went out of the building and brought in a man that was not similar in terms of philosophy with Tannenbaum there would be more strife in the FO.

Like it or not, Tannenbaum is the point man in this franchise. Therefore, someone that knows him and has a similar lineage is needed as the GM. Even though nobody will believe it, Grier and the new coach will be the ones making the day to day decisions for the Dolphins while Tannenbaum will be overarching making sure people "play nice" and keep the vision clear. Tannenbaum will also be used to close deals and make any big trades.

This situation is going to work.

I wonder if Chris Grier would feel that way? He has survived and battled through in surviving multiple regime changes. Grier is deserving and has done his time.

Doing your time doesn't mean you're competent . The drafts have been bad for years and he's a part of that problem. Because he aligned himself with what everyone saw coming hardly qualifies him to be a real GM.

Believe me I hope the guy works out but I have seen this movie over and over in Detroit and well, we all know how bad that franchise is.

Okay, so the "bad drafts" were not on Jeff Ireland...now Chris Grier. Or it was not Nick Saban that passed on Aaron Rodgers...it was Chris Grier. Got it.

We passed on Gaine due to links to Ireland when we wanted a proper gm. Now that we need a puppet it seems the old failed crew are fine again
