Griers Press Conference

Grier built a team good enough to compete, the problem is the window slammed shut and the QB can't stay healthy after the big contract.

Not a Grier apologist, but the team falling apart in 23 was not on Grier.

In 2023? Would agree. But every other season absolutely he's to blame

One day it will be realized that the 1 season Miami had a realistic shot was the season he actually...
. Wait for it......
Wait for it...
Are you ready??????

INVESTED IN THE FU$#ING O line.

That is all

Ray, I get what your CIP plan is and from a football perspective, "continuity" is definitely needed in Miami, BUT I prefer it is not the same group we "continue" with. Kind of like "Yeah, I can eat at McDonald's. I could survive on it the rest of my life I guess." vs "I can eat at Outback. I could survive on it the rest of my life I guess (AT A HIGHER LEVEL)." The analogy is that yes, we have been to the playoffs since 2016 three times BUT we have not won one. I want a group that gets us there regularly and wins one! If we can find that group, I am all in on "continuity", just like I was with Shula.

(ps) I was just having fun with OPP. "OPP" was a one-hit wonder song sung by "Naughty by Nature" in 1991. OPP stands for "Other People's P.... (insert female sex organ)"
Your restaurant analogy is interesting, but incorrect.
Owners can own many different franchises of restaurants. They all sell food.

Imagine the NFL Draft as a food source for fresh food and the Free Agency as a food source for old stale food.

The Coaching staff is the cooking group. It's easier to make good stuff out of fresh stuff as opposed to leftovers. This excludes yeast bread, which needs the old yeast, and vinegar needs yeast for its mother. - No Joke. - LOL

Do you want a plate of leftover "used to be" good foods or a plateful of fresh and possibly surprisingly good food.

If you chose the stale route, that's your problem. - LOL

The choice is yours.
Choose wisely. - LOL

Failure builds character and by now Chris Grier has the most character in the league which makes him the perfect man for the job. Plus they say third time is the charm. If he doesn’t turn us around by 2028 then I’d move on but he deserves another chance.
Failure builds character and by now the "Negative Nancy's" have the most characters on this board. - LOL

See how that works?
No?
That figures. - LOL

Yeah your trolling.

Ok, I understand your analogy too, so that means....drumroll.......I'm "RONG"? Guess that means I don't get what's behind Door #2! 😂

At the end of the day Vegas has our win total at 8.5 wins right now. You know what our win totals were the last two years? 9.5 (2023) and 9.5 (2024). Granted the under is shaded this year to the under. A full game less............... We aren't some bottom feeder team. Would I like Grier gone? Sure as hell. This year we are gonna take our "lumps". If the QB stays healthy all season, our "lumps" will more than likely be a 7 to 10 win football season. If its worse than that, everyone gets their wish and Grier/Mcdaniel are getting fired. If we finish more in the 8-10 win range, than we come out of some bad contracts and we got some optimism going forward. Next year we aren't winning a super bowl but its gonna give us a really good barometer/indicator for the future going forward.

Positives

Grier hasn't mortgaged the future this offseason
Its sink or swim time for Grier/Mcdaniel/Tua
If it absolutely terrible, like most predict, we get a completely fresh restart next year.
If it an 8-9 win season like vegas has us right now, I would it as a good season given the deficiencies on the roster
8.5?

I might bet a thousand on the under. Not even joking.

if the dolphins do not make the playoffs this year, then what?
or do you have a pre-planned excuse for them not making the playoffs, so you can convince yourself you were not RONG, like something having to do with injuries or something of that ilk?
why would it be a fluke if guys like tua or chubb got hurt again? who decides to put oft injured players on the team?
or do you think if the time comes, you will be able to say Ray R was a lemming and was RONG?

the other question, and this is one to myself, why am i even engaging in this? my fault.

I will wait and observe how well the Dolphins do, or don't perform. Then I will make the comments I feel the situation warrants.

I will be looking for Continuous Improvement by the team, both on a game-by-game basis and also on the team's "trajectory" over the most recent three to four games. I will likely respond to any "Negative Nancy's" hyperbolism's with a response I feel they deserve.

I'm looking for improved play calling on both the Offense and the Defense.

I want to see the OL working together effectively. There may be some plays they get beaten on because this is the NFL and our opponents aren't idiots. I am curious to see who will make up our OL.

My overall focus is the team performance of both the Offense & Defense as opposed to over-focusing on positional weakness, since I feel the Offensive and Defensive groups cohesion is more important right now than any players individual performance.

Basically, I want to see our defense hold our opponents to 17 points or less each game and I want to see our offense score AT LEAST 25 points or more each game. I also want to see us score in each of the four quarters each and every game.

How our coaches achieve that is their business. How I will comment on their performance is my business; but I will certainly wait until the game is over before I determine if the team has done well or not.

See how easy that is? - LOL

To me, that is the "Gold" standard, although I would settle for "Silver" with the D holding them to under 20 pts. and the O at 23+ while scoring in at least 3 quarters.

Tell you what, I will look into my Crystal Ball for you (no charge) and tell you what I see for Miami this season.....drumroll please..........:

"They are not going to amount to Jaaaaackkkkk Squaaaaat! (Sorry, that's what the Crystal Ball tells me.)"

Not going to get into the vague, subjective, hard to define/measure parts of the post.

I will only point out that 17 PPG allowed average is not even close to being realistic, IMO.

That would total 289 for the season. No team came close to that threshold last year. 1 team, Baltimore accomplished that in 2023. Only 4 teams over the past six years that I looked at.

I suppose one could say "see, it's possible". Yeah possible if you had a team with multiple All Pro caliber, defensive players and a methodical, ball control offense. That isn't the Dolphins.

To put it in perspective, the Phins ranked #10 (not bad) in that metric last year, allowing 364 points.

IMO, if the Dolphins don't make it to at least the AFC Championship game then Grier and McDaniel should be gone in 2026.
