I say screw frerotte we need to give griese another shot as our backup! he had a crappy o-line when he was here and wannsted was his coach. It would be nice to have him back and i would feel safe if he had to start a few games.

If we can't get Frerrote back I'd have him as our 2nd target to go after. I'd much rather have him than Maddox.

Problem is why would he come here knowing he has no shot at starting and what would his salary demands be?
May not be a realistic option.

Well, if DC's knee isnt ready to go at the start of the season, who ever is back-up is going to start a few games. That may be incentive enough to get a guy in here that wants to play.

He probably thinks he's got a legitimate shot at starting somewhere...but yeah he's a good option

what team is he going to start for?

Cardinals, lol i really have no clue, but he played good for the Bucs as there starter and the Broncos

on a second note, I think it will be unlikely Griese will play here. He did OK in Tampa and there are plenty of teams out there that need a QB. He may get to go somewhere and compete for the starting job whereas who ever comes here already knows they will end up holding the clipboard at somepoint.

IMO Guss is our best option for backup but the way his wife and daughter were treated and having to suffer the demotion in the locker room I think he will go. Bring Griese in as number three and see if he can unseat Lemon. Cleo is WAY ahead in the playbook. Remember, Nick is looking to regularly hold a roster of four QB's because they have such great value. I talked about this with someone a while back and got little love, Saban wants to export improved players for draft picks all the while improving the overall talent. And of all the commodities that will trade with minimal snaps is a backup QB. He speaks about all this in his PC... I'm not a big fan of son of Bob, but he could hold a roster spot here I think.

Agreed on Gus but bringing in Griese to see if he can unseat Lemon?

Don't you have that backwards?

Granted but after the NFL Europe season ends, isn't there a way we can move Brock Berlin up from the practice squad into the third position at QB? I definitely know he's not a two but Berlin would fill one of those empty positions for little money.

If Lemon and Berlin are both on the 53-man roster, there had better be four quarterbacks on the roster. I'm not hating on them but we need someone with solid game experience at the #2 (and possible starter at the beginning of the season if Daunte isn't ready).

no, I don't think so. I really think there is more than filling a roster spot involved with our getting him. He is athletic, much like we hope Daunte returns to, in his stlye of play, and would be effective I think, operating plays specifically designed for Daute. He can operate the playbook some right now and would have a head start on soB. If Lemon can cut the mustard and even start a couple of games maybe, his value would skyrocket. We already know what the best son o' Bob can do.
