Griese Should Still Be A Dolphin

He didn't work in our system (which is drop back, get sacked)

I thought he should've been given another chance. Jay had about 4-5, AJ's on his 2nd. Plus, Tampa's O-line was just as worse as ours last season and he still put up a 97 QB rating. Would've been nice to see another Griese help the Dolphins win.

He may be. But thanks to Wanny and Rick (who kept the wrong QB) we'll never know.

Wannestadt never learned his lesson. He was run out of Chicago because he couldnt judge talent, especially Qbs, a 1st for Mirer? Griese had been successful before in the NFL, he didnt play great here but he certainly deserved more than just a few games to prove himself. Fiedler lost games for us with poorly timed turnovers and got the vote of confidence anyway, Griese played poorly for a few games and got the boot. This is why Wannestadt is coaching college ball and Spielman is flippin burgers or holding a stopwatch for a real scout somewhere.

he didnt fit the system. like the man said Griese was sack fodder when he played. shame but thats the way it goes.

well now i will say that i completely agree with what is being said here . this is a good thread i have felt that anytime you replace a legion that person wont have much luck because the preasure is so high . i would hate to be jay or brian for this very reason.

exactly. I've never seen someone look so immobile, and so lost. Our LT (wade smith) was terrible against the colts. freeney blew by him everytime. And although its smith fault, griese never acknowledged the fact that smith couldn;t handle him. He just kept leaving his blindside wide open for freeney to nail him each time.

griese cost miami the playoffs when he subbed for fiedler.

Griese is no more a complete QB than the ones on this roster. His play looks better. He puts up better stat lines. The reality remains that Skeletor is a good judge of talent, and he tossed Griese aside in favor of Plummer for a good reason.

In a way, it might be a good thing that this team doesn't have Griese. He could probably do what Fiedler did with Dave and show just enough to keep hanging around. Nobody currently on this team will compete for the starting spot against the next QB (at least after he gets past the rookie learning curve if he's a rookie).

Fiedler did not lose any games for us that year, unless you mean by getting hurt. Tampa Bay's system is one of the most Quarterback friendly systems in the league. For example, How did Shaun King look in Tampa? How about Brad Johnson? Not that these guys wouldn't tear it up if they were anywhere else . Brian Griese is a good quarterback if he is in a gift-wrapped system, like U-Michigan or Denver. Anywhere else, he is no better than a backup.
