I know Patterson's been hurt, but have you noticed how good our pass defense is when he starts opposite Grimes? It got me to thinking. Where does this tandem rank statistically when compared to the other 31 tandems in the league. I bet it's top 5. Anyone know how to find this type of statt? Does PFF keep this stat?

We really need Patterson for the stretch run so if he's not healthy, let him rest.

Combined 6 picks, 1 pick 6, 1 sack through 8 games. Id say that's pretty good. If you ask me Id be ok with giving up some more passing yards as long as we are getting turnovers.

Im also very happy they aren't having to rush to rookies to the field right away. Rookie CBs have a rough first year. Let them develop, hell longer if need be. Resign Patterson and Grimes then have Taylor or Davis work nickel and dime packages. In 2 to 3 years when Grimes and Patterson are gone we then have 2 26 year old guys to fill right in.

Id say Patterson and Grimes are definitely top 10. Carroll and Grimes drops that to probably somewhere between 15-20 easily.

don't judge DBs on INTs alone, the best ones usually have fewer INTs b/c teams won't go near them. I haven't watched enough of either to say how good they have been but in 2005 we had Ty Law w/ 10 picks and he was HORRIBLE that year.

It's nice to see a solid secondary again....I'd still love to see more depth behind these two guys.

Will Davis and Jamar Taylor feel free to work your way into the lineup anytime.

Im not saying its a sole stat to go by, but given all else consistent Id prefer more picks and would be willing to give up some more yards. That 10 picks was at least a chance at 10 more drives that year. I also get that for great DBs the QB wont throw that way. That's why I like Patterson/Grimes - you have to pick one.

These two have been a massive upgrade over Davis and Smith! You can tell just by how often they are right there competing for the ball. Smith and Davis rarely would compete for the ball.

Sad thing is you couldn't really have called Smith and Davis bad picks at that time. Both rated well, athletic, and flashed great play ability. Just didn't work out. Glad Grimes and Patterson are so far.

Patterson has been better than Grimes when he has played this year. Totally shocking.

Why is it that Smith can now hold on to INTs, but dropped most of them as a Dolphin?

I wouldn't say sad.

But its an un-even comparison. Smith and Davis both have just as good ability, biggest difference IMO and most important one is experience.

Patterson and Grimes have 5+ years on Vontae and Smith.

We all saw flashes of greatness from Smith and Vontae, just needed that extra "push", sadly that CB duo fell apart before they "clicked".

It made me sick that he had that pick six. Because NOBODY mentioned that he got beaten like a drum off the line, like always because he will always be soft, and Tuel threw it right to him. Had he not gotten beaten so badly off the line, he isn't in position to make that pick. He still sucks.

^^ He was COMPLETELY out of position. Absolutely awful coverage. It was literally one of the worst throws i've ever seen though.

I don't know about that. Carroll's only allowed one TD all year. Carroll is not nearly as bad as Finheaven makes him out to be.
