Brent Grimes didn't suffer any structural damage to the right knee injury he suffered in last Sunday's 27-14 loss to the New York Jets.

According to a source, an MRI taken earlier this week revealed that Grimes simply sprained his right knee. Grimes, 32, is supposedly experiencing some discomfort in the knee, but that might subside by the time the Dolphins conclude the bye week and play the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 18.

Grimes, who has contributed 12 tackles and one interception in the four games he's played this season, has started every game he's played for the Dolphins the past three seasons. So he'll likely try to play through the injury, but his playing and practicing status will likely be determined by Miami's medical staff.
The Dolphins replaced Grimes with Zack Bowman against the Jets, and the eight-year veteran pulled down Miami's third interception of the season. Bowman, who has started 28 games in his NFL career, played in Miami's nickel package as a boundary cornerback, working with Jamar Taylor and Brice McCain.

Cornerback happens to be one of Miami's deepest positions, so if Grimes is shelved for a few games it is possible that two rookies - Bobby McCain and Tony Lippett - could get playing time in Miami's defense. McCain has played as a gunner on special teams each week. Lippett hasn't been active for any of Miami's first four games.

What does that say about the roster when cornerback is one of our deepest positions... Geez

Deepest? LOL. Maybe in terms of numbers but after Grimes we have a bunch of question marks.

Great news and i NEVER EVER want to see McCain on the boundry again. He doesn't belong there, Bowman may! Based on his limited work the other day.

Good to hear. I'm a fan. Grimes is a warrior and a professional.

I'd work Bowman more at the other side. Jamar some. Bobby McCain some.

Play Brice solely in the slot. Period.

crappy week in the Grimes household... this too shall pass... good people (both), always bounce back

Of course, he just bailed out for personal reasons.

Not fair to pick on the corners too much. Hard to tell how good they are when you have 1 sack through 4 games. Everything that is wrong with our defense starts up front. Any QB can tear up any secondary when they're not under any pressure. Wake, Mitchell, Suh, OV is the biggest problem with this defense as much as everyone wants to point fingers else where. These guys, with the exception of Suh, are getting their asses whipped one on one.

I will say though in 2 straight games I've seen Jamar Taylor look like he playing not to get hurt in the running game. Against Karlos Williams he had a clear shot and sort of ran past him to chase him down from behind. He pulled the same **** with Ivory this week. I thought he should be our most physical CB. Sometimes I feel like everybody just waits for Rashaad jones to make the tackle if the RB get to the 2nd level.

"ornerback happens to be one of Miami's deepest positions"

Lol, bodies does not indicate depth

Listening to Grantland Football Pod (the two hosts are Giants and Bears fans) the Zack Bowman experience does not sound much better than the Brice McCain one...but I suppose Bowman at least is a vet.
