Guard Jake Scott visits Dolphins

merling got a 2nd round tender??? thats just stupid...only way i can even remotely justify that is cause these guys thought they'd lose both solia and langford but if thats the case this draft is damn loaded with high end dline prospects...loaded...

as for murtha that tender tells me that they envision him barring eric winston signing for a less than market deal as the front runner for the starting right tackle job...or at minimum they believe in him as the guy

Stupid we didnt really try to sign Winston. You put Murtha's salary with horrible Hicks and you basically have Winston's salary. How Richard Marshall is worth that money but Winston isnt is beyond me

murthas what...1.7 mil and hicks is what $2 mil...you won't sign winston for that...could have lost that garrard money but dollars to donuts if he proves healthy he's the week 1 starting qb...

Im just saying you take that 4 million and pay a little more. Murtha who knows he has done nothing and Hicks is so bad he had two rookies start over him and Im talking 5th rounder and an UDFA rookie over him. You solidy the opposite tackle instead of having three big question marks on line

Nice I was just surprised you have marshall at safety? Do you think that was our motive for the signing? Man I think we get Bell back for a lot cheaper or make a stopgap pick up and then use Marshall in the nickel.

I need to look up some game footage and see how Jerry was when he was playing T. You think he's starter material around the league?

well, I think Marshall at FS is the plan for now. Like I said, I expect an upgrade at S. If that happens, I see Marshall moving to slot corner. He did play FS in Arizona, so it's not impossible.

As for Jerry, when Long went down last season, Jerry filled in at LT. He didnt look GREAT, but he held is own. At least, he deserves a chance to compete, and see how he looks at RT.

I hope we not paying 5 million for our third corner. it makes sense he is the s . He is not a good corner

i think marshalls here to play free safety and that we are going into the draft looking for a nickle cb...now just move reshad jones to strong if bell won't come back on a vet minimum deal and we might be ok

Any ideas on what the lineup in going to look like this year? Lets say we get Jake and then working with who we have right now. Lets be realistic, we always get our hopes up just for another letdown, F this team and how much I love them![/QUOTE

Likely:
QB Moore
RB Bush
FB/TE Clay
WR Hartline-Bess
TE Fasano
OL Long-Incognito-Pouncey-Scott-Murtha/Jerry

DL Wake-Soliai-Starks-Odrick
LB Misi-Dansby-Burnett
CB Davis-Smith
S Marshall-Jones

Thats going by what we have now, plus the addition of Scott. I fully expect the draft to find upgrades at WR, DE, OLB, S, OT. Obviously not all positions will be upgraded, but those are the most pressing IMO

Looks awful right now. I hope they find several game-changers in the draft b/c this team needs them.

i doubt bell comes back he offered to restructure and we just cut him not to mention we overpaid Marshall to play. I hope we take Trumaine Johnson in second round , I love his potential

IMO Murtha showed enough 2 years ago to atleast earn the chance of competing for the RT spot. And IIRC he is a pretty athletic RT and played in a WCO in college.

As for the FO issue, I said this in another thread, but the PR department has a lot of issues as do Ross and Ireland's ways of going about thing. First they shouldn't have said they were going to be so active because that brings high expectation, and with Philbin wanting to build through draft, (and the draft being more of Ireland's area of expertise) it was a bad move. Then when certain things happen they are too quiet on why they are doing things. They are either too open or too quiet.

the odd man out after this season on this d is sean smith...unless he comes back cheap he's gone...the problem with we are looking for a free safety upgrade in the draft is this free safety class sucks...

Actually Merling was given an original round tender which is less money than a second round tender. In fact, it is roughly $700,000 cheaper. Even though he was given an original round tender, a team who wants to sign him would need to give up a second round pick. It was the cheapest and smartest way to retain Merling.

yep...i think the tender and what you have mentioned barring something falling in our lap says he's the inside guy at right tackle

I dont see him coming back that cheap but you prob right

now thats intriguing indeed..he and a bunch of other guys at the combine going in showed that they lacked hips etc for a high end level cb and that they need to be viewed as safety prospects...i like the kid...but i wonder if he can bring the physicality and sure tackling at safety plus the instincts that you need

well that makes more sense...i think it had a lot to do with losing guys in free agency...but again for my study dline may well be and especially interior dline may be the deepest position in this draft...in the top 50 no question it is...
