This may be stretching a bit, but Gus Frerotte or A.J. Feeley, if they continue to progress in Linehan's office and open up the playbook to feature our skill players, and with the weapons we'll have on offense with Boston, Chambers, Booker, McMichael, Brown, etc., Frerotte or Feeley could legitmately have as season much like Jon Kitna had with the Bengals two years ago when he was named comeback player of the year in NFL. This is the season he had after a 16td, 16 int, 79 rating in 2002 season:

Kitna - 26 TD, 15 INT, 3600 YARDS, 62%, 87.4 Rating

Frerotte looked pretty good in his two starts with Minnesota under Linehan in 2003 with 7 td against 2 int. The stat I like is 11 YPA - Getting the ball down field - having Moss didn't hurt either

As we all know, Feeley's stats were nothing to write home about last year, only a rating of 61.7, but hey if Jon Kitna can do it, I'd like to thank either of these two guys can do it as well, especially with our weapons

What do ya think?

i wouldnt just mention kitna, look at brees too, its very possible

I think if that were to happen with either of the two, we'd all be pleasantly surprised. I won't be holding my breath. But who knows, stranger things have happened.

We can only hope. You could throw Griese's name in there too. He has done well with the Bucs.

That would be great but i dont think that can happen. We will see i guess.I do think Feeley is in the best system for him and we do have some great weapons.I hope Feeley starts but i think Gus will win the job cuz he already no's the system.I do feel Feeley will get his shot to start at some point in the year.I think either could do well in this system but i really dont see either being comeback player of the year.I think Ricky Williams will be comeback player of the year.:D

Yeah. I wish we had kept Griese. If we had, we wouldn't be having the QB troubles and questions we are having now. Griese would do well in Linehan's system.

Stop it guys. Your posts are too reasoned and well thought out. You are supposed to rush to judgement and start bashing Feeley and/or Gus and predict a QB with our top 10 draft pick in 2006.;)

Based on what? I supported Griese, but I was disappointed in his performance with the Dolphins after that game against San Diego.
If I recall he threw a lot of picks that went for TD's when he played for the Dolphins.
I wonder if the problem was the system and not the QB's. If that is the case, then I would expect Feeley to do well. From a physical standpoint he has a much better arm than Griese.

I don't recall Griese throwing alot of INTs for TDs. I know he didn't play as well for us as he has in Tampa, but he would be better than either of the two options we have now.
Yes, the system has a lot to do with our past QB struggles, but I still say Griese would have been better for us.

No more than Jay Feidler and AJ Feeley.

I think Both AJ and Gus will have a chance to have the best year of their careers. They will have a new system and good coaching. They will not be expected to carry the team but to be a vital cog in a machine.

Lets not forget all the fumbles Mr. Griese had that year he played with us. I dont blame him for playing poorly though that O-line was just horrible.
