This may be put on the draft forum but I don't think we should draft a Quarterback until the 2nd or 3rd round. For these reasons once Coach Saban made the adjustment of bringing Lineham to the field from the booth and Chris Chambers got on the same page our offense seem to click, and everybody that I have read wants to get rid of Gus for the bad job he did but do we all remember Jay and AJ, I do but I think we do need a quarterback for the future but not at the expense of having a QB controversy. Brodie Croyle, Omar Jacob or Charlie Whitehurst will make a good understudy but we need another cornerback/safety, offensive lineman, defensive tackle and WR so moving up and giving away picks or thinking of trading Ricky to move up would be wrong for Jay Culter....and Ben Roethlisberger is the first round draft pick to win a superbowl in a very long time do remember one in the last five or ten years. I want to know what your opinion.:dolphins: :tantrum:

Jay wsas a servicable QB, but wasn't the franchise QB Miami is looking for. AJ, honestly never was given a chance. Bad coaching, bad offensive system, bad OC and a bad offensive line. Really hard for a QB to overcome as a starter. Gus is in the mold of Jay, but had better coaching and new the ofensive system. Best thing for us to do is to draft Croyle and keep Gus.

Thank you.......Jay had Norv Turner but Wanny wanted to run the ball after Norv put in a game plan of 25 to 30 pass but Wanny always change the day before the game to 15 to 10 passes. I don't think Gus is in the mold of Jay.

Don't Shoot Me!

I must agree with the analysis regarding not spending a high pick on a QB. By the time they develop (even the high draft picks) they are on someone elses Superbowl Team (See eg, Testaverde, Dilfer, Hasselbeck, Favre, Collins). Frankly, the "franchise quarterbacks" everyone is so eager to get rarely win Superbowls. How many have Manning, Culpeppper, Mcnabb, and Mcnair won? The same number as Marino, God Bless him. Many of the recent Superbowl winners weren't even high draft picks such as Warner, Delhomme and Brady. The man to sign, and you heard it from me first, is Josh McCown. The guy makes big plays, he is young, experienced and will come relatively cheap. He is in the same spot in his career that Delhomme and Hasselbeck were in a few years ago. Sign him and let him compete with Gus, who, although I was on him early in the season, was 9-6 for a team that was predicted by many to be 5-11.

We may not need to move up in the draft to get Cutler. He may be there for the taking at 16 if McCown, Ramsey, Schaub end up with teams before us. I would say that it's imperative that we grab one of those three (or Carr, Rivers if available) or draft Cutler. Saban knows Cutler from coaching in the SEC, so I trust his judgement on him and Croyle. Croyle to me is one or two levels below Cutler. It seems Saban spent more time with Cutler than Croyle at Senior Bowl week so it seems Saban agrees but maybe he's just being sly as some here speculate. I agree we don't need a QB controversy but if we land one of the QBs I mentioned there won't be any controversy unless Gus is still starting (and I doubt that will be the case with Linehan gone).

Another question if you agree what would be your first pick and what quarterback you would be going after!!!!

Do you all want to go back to Jay/AJ situation:dolphins: :sidelol: :sidelol:

Defense.

Don't worry about a QB controversy. Frerotte and McCown have both handled that in the past and a little competition is a good thing. Saban is smart enough to name a starter and defray any problems before the season starts. The three players I have as potential first rounders are Gabe Watson, Jimmy Williams and Chad Greenway, in that order. If we don't keep Mcintosh (I think we will) then Justice might be a first rounder.

AJ was given more than enough chances, he was an awful QB plain and simple. He had no pocket presence and piss poor decision making skills.

He was horrible in 2004. He had like 4 or 5 INTs for TDs. Still Saban gave him a shot in 2005 and he got beat out by Gus and Sage. He even threw another INT for TD in the preseason!

He Sucks!! -- and Saban agrees.

I dislike this thread as some names were brought back that I thought had gone forever!
