So how do you think he played this game? Not the best numbers, but just enough to win and put some points up on the board. I have to admit that he does have a heck of an arm and I'm pretty confident having him as our quarterback right now.

well the INT wasn't his fault, so i beleive he played a really good game.

Gus has played great in all 3 games. He's managed the offense and made very few mistakes. I think if you compared the number of negative plays (fumbles, INTs, sacks taken, etc.) he's made in these three games to ANY three games we had last year, it'd be a real lopsided statistic. THAT's what's allowing us to win this year -- we aren't LOSING games for ourselves.

I was going to say that. Someone will flame us for this, but who cares. Chambers made no effort on the play to go for the ball or become a "defender" and try to knock that ball down. He needs to be more physical.
Gus played good enough today. He doesn't have to win the games. He just has to get the ball to the playmakers. He is doing pretty good at that.

The Panthers D is really tough too, so that should be put into consideration.

Agreed. Except we have to stop the penalties. Take away all these dumb penalties and we'd be a much EASIER 3-0 instead of 2-1.

gus has been great no mistakes that is the game. he is not here to throw for 300 yds and 4 tds a game (it would be nice of course) but he's not killing our defense and making them play harder by making dumb mistakes with int's like feeley did last year especially int's for td's. I didnt think i would feel this way but i feel very comfortable with him in the pocket with feeley i was nervous with every throw. that td to mcmike was beautiful great pass and step up in the pocket

So is it safe to say everyone is confident about Gus being our starter for the rest of the season?
I'm glad he out played Feely, and I almost regret doubting Frerotte's leadership and qb skills.

Frerotte has done exactly what he needs to to help this team win...no more, no less...i like it!

what happened on those 2 overthrows to boston? was boston wide open?

Ive said before the season started that Gus is a caretaker type QB. Hes not going to shoot the lights out... but hes not going to lose you games. His 2 INTs have at least not lead to points the other way (for a change!) hes playing within the system and taking what the D gives. Its all you can ask... for a journeyman... perhaps hes exactly what we needed. Experience.. poise.. and mistake free ball.

i wasnt thrill when we got him... but i wanted him to start over Feeley. Just for these points.

Yeah, he's made the plays necessary to win, and despite occasional interceptions, they haven't been the horrendous, 7 point gimme's, we'd become so prone to delivering.
I think were taking full advantage of his past experience with Linehan's system, and only wish the time spent competing for starter, could of been used instead on polishing better chemistry with the recievers.
It IS sobering knowing that Sage is the No 2 man these days.

That said, beating Carolina was HUGE, even at home.

For once since Marino left, I don't hold my breathe when he throws the ball. I'm not comparing him to marino, just stating that i have more confidence in him than our recent qb's.
