Gus Frerotte

played a very solid game yesterday (especially in the 2nd half). Though he hasn't played lights out this season I think he has played well for the most part and seems to give us a good chance to win every week.

He gets a lot of flaming on this site but I think much of it is unfounded. Until recently this team has been plagued by drops that have not been Gus' fault (though admittedly he has been off target a few times as well).

He is no superstar but he's probably the best QB we've had here since Dan and I hope he is our starter next season (mentoring our young future QB, whoever that is).

Anyone else want to see him start next season and mentor our future signal caller?

Derailed his career? he did pretty good in Minny filling in. Me thinks you cannot give it up for Gus at all. Why does that not surprise me?

You may be thinking of his fumble that was returned for a TD against Tampa.

Yeah, it's weird not seeing any pick-6's this season. Heck, even Dan the Man threw them, but he was able to balance it out.

one thing that I didn't really think of when I started this thread was that our O-line did play pretty well yesterday. They weren't opening up much room for the running game (who does against SD?) but the pass protection was solid all game.

Maybe the O-line felt bad for that concussion they gave to Gus last week?
