i watched every game on tv last year including preseason and i think that gus is underrated by many here. he has phenomenal pocket prescence. that is one of the reason the line had so few sacks. and he is more accurate than his passing rating would suggest. i saw so many balls last year that should have been caught especially on 3rd down keeping drives alive that could have led to td's. chambers should have had a lot more deep balls too. gus and chambers never seemed able to connect for the deep ball. if the receivers caught more balls and more of gus deep balls were caught i think his rating would be around 85 to 90. i think he is an upgrade over fiedler but i guess most would be, even though i like fiedler too, just for his guts and his positve attitude surrounded by fans who hated him. also add the fact that gus was hurt a lot and had very mediocre line play to begin the season made me pretty happy w/ his performance. if he had a super reliable receiver on 3rd down and a little more time to throw he could be better than half the league at qb. so gus had to deal w/ injuries, bad line play at beginning and injuries and we still were 9-7.

you think he is underrated because we have had fiedler for 5 years before

Gus isn't underrated. He's properly rated.

Well said. Some people are naturally haters and they speak nonsense about decent players and that is what Gus is... a decent player.

He isnt the piece of turd people are making him out to be. But he sure aint anything worth keeping. He is just an average run of the mill backup QB. Nothing more nothing less. I hope he is gone soon.

Oh no, not another one of these threads. I think these "Gus doesn't get the credit he deserves" threads pop up on here every couple of weeks. The truth is that Gus sucks plain and simple. He is a very inaccurate QB that has been nothing more than a career backup. He was the clear cut starter last year because he was a veteran, who knew the system, and has good pocket awareness with less mistakes than the other candidates. He will not be the starting QB next year, and that makes me sleep better.

He's exactly what Fiedler was. A backup thrust into a starting role, which of course gains the resentment of fans.
I think we'll see some of these types of posts this weekend. Desperation for Gus fans.
:titanic:
Last ride of the gusketeers! :p4e:

to Gus credit he was top 10 in passing yrds in the AFC

I thought fiedler was a pretty good qb back a few years ago, imo he was underated

pretty good at doing his cheer routines on the sideline while he was injured

You want to count the number of teams in the AFC before you get all excited about that?
