What do you guys think will happen with our qb situation. I personally think we may be stuck with another year of the guskateer. Gus "knows the system" who better to teach our rookie than him? I dont know, but what do you guys think will happen with our starting QB next year because it surely wont be a rookie.

I believe Saban will bring in a second tier QB (Kitna, Warner, etc) to hold the reigns until the rook gets his legs wet. If this QB is adequate, Gus won't make it thru TC....If Saban goes the route of a high profile FA QB (Rivers/Brees, Carr, etc) then draft a guy in the lower rounds to 'groom', then Gus will be gone as well, probably before camp. Gus knowledge of the system was much more critical this year, with a new O system, Saban being back to the NFL in 10 years, new FO, etc than it will be next year, where he has established his system in the fold. Meuller/Saban will come up with some better depth at various positions on our team. QB issue will have to be his greatest concern though...

There is a very good chance Frerotte could be back again. I've seen similar situations before where everyone wants the QB gone but he stays because he knows the system, "competes in camp for the job" and wins it and again we're stuck with him. I just hope the Phins orginization can feel the fans pain and realize that with their 25 mil they NEED to go out their and get a QB. But sometimes it seems this orgization is clueless about the team needing someone to throw the ball.
Gus will be back next year. And, at some point, he will become the backup QB next year. If Miami takes a QB in the draft, that QB will get a chance later in the season to start. If Miami gets a QB in free agency, that QB will start the season and Gus will back-up all year.
Saban has continually express that the passing attack has not been efficient so I think he will look to upgrade every aspect this offseason. I see Cleo as his project so I don't see him drafting a QB. He will try to find a "Good value" veteran but Gus may be on the roster he will not be starting.

Personally I think if we had a Kurt Warner or a Kitna at the beggining of this season our team would be 5-3 not 3-5. Gus is not a starting quarterback there's a reason he's been passed around the league so much, well it's not becuase of his great throwing arm.
If we could get Kurt Warner that would put us in a position to go to the playoffs imo

It all depends on how we upgrade QB in the off-season. FA... then he probably starts next season. If by the draft... he probably won't start until the 6th or 7th game. If all things equal, I'd prefer a rookie and that way we would have a young QB for many years.
Really I just want a good QB. Have not seen solid, consistent QB play since Marino (even then his last few years were average).

Baring a free agent pick up Gus will remain the starter for next year and he will probably retire a dolphin becuase Linehan LOVES him. If we do draft a rookie next year the rookie will probably get a start around this time next season wich could make for yet another long year. One thing is for certain, Gus can't play football forever. Go Dolphins!

We may have just good enough of a record that we will be out of the hunt for a first round QB worth the pick. My guess is that we will aquire a FA QB during the offseason, keep Frerotte and Lemon. As much as I hate to see it happen, I don't believe that Sage's contract will be renewed.
