Hey all,
I was curious to see what Gus' QB rating was over those last 6 games, so I had my brother with the Masters Degree in Civil Enginerring (who actually understands how the rating system stuff works) run the numbers for me.

Gus went 88/162 1,071 yds 8tds 3int = 83.6 QB rating :cooldude:

compared against other starters for the year, would put him 18th overall,
in between Bledsoe and McNair.

good enough for another year while we groom a rookie, don't you think?

Thanks for the stats, broseph! :dolphins: (And thank your bro for me, too.)

IMO it is only Ok---he may be good enough to stay there another season, but hopefully we will get a genuine QB for the future this season coming, through the darft or Trade/FA

true, but it's much better than the 70.1 he posted for the year.

I agree that he was better in the latter part of the season, and that we had a winning record---I just dont think he is our future

Wow, that's pretty impressive considering some of his lows of this season. I honestly do believe that we can make a serious run at the playoffs next season with Gus if he and our Offense continues to perform how they have, these past six games. The only major concern on our Defense is the Secondary, especially CB. I think we have a pretty damn solid D-Line and our I think our LB'ing core is pretty solid, but I'd still like to acquire another OLB via Free Agency or the Draft, especially considering Junior Seau most likely won't be in Miami next year. But thanks for the stat burghPhinFan, great stuff.

it would be wonderful to think that Gus was our back up QB next Year. that would truly tell me that we had depth :) :dolphins:

I for one am all for keeping Gus for another year as our starter (one of a few it seems). What I don't seem to understand is everyone wants us to go get a qb in free agency and draft a qb. Now I am all for drafting a qb to groom for the future, but does anyone believe we can get anyone through free agency that give us a better chance of winning right now then Gus? I mean he knew the system and it still took him half a year to get his timing and chemistry down with our receivers. If we bring in Kitna, McNair, or someone else I believe it will at least take a month of the season to get acclimated to the offense, receivers, etc. And while Gus may not be anything to build around for the future, I believe he has what it takes to make us a rather potent playoff team in 06'. Everyone says his % percentage is horrible, he can't make the big plays to put away a game, but if you think about it, his completion % would be much higher if we didn't have all of our drops this season, he hasn't lost us any games single handedly except the Falcons game, his immense amount of overthrows has diminished greatly, and as this thread states his qb rating over the last six games was rather respectable. I guess what I'm trying to say is just let's give the Gus Bus another season.

and what's sages rating when doesnt start...?

NO. Not even close.

That figure is inflated by his career 128.8 game in San Diego.

In that six games he had THREE bad games. one at 70.3 and two in the 50's.

People have a real tendancy to think Gus was better than he was in the streak by subconsciously giving Gus credit for what Sage did.

Its a fair point , but we do need to build for the future, so at least need a QB in the draft, if not in FA

Does that put him between Bledsoe and McNair when you run their best 6 games? I think your study might be askew!
