Gus Says: Lets Have Fun

If they can cut down on the OL errors I think that Gus will do more than an adequate job.He wont be a high pct passer but he also wont throw many pick 6s or make costly errors.

The biggest problem you have with Gus is hes about as moble as a brick wall. I do think Sabin did the right thing by starting the Vet.

well ....i have high expectations for anyone that is the #1 QB

i have wanted frerotte to start since i saw him in the first (or second) preseason game.

he just looked much more comfortable back there, even when there was pressure he didn't look as rushed as feeley if that makes any sense.

i am hoping that Gus KNOWING that he is the starter and that he is in control of the phins that he will get his timing down on the deep balls....just don't make the int mistakes!!

Nice read. You can sense a very positive outlook from all of the players, just the opposite of last season. I think the change in attitude is going to be a tremendous advantage as we head into each game. There appears to be good team unity and chemistry. All of that can't help but motivate the team to play harder and better. Remember how Bates took the same players last year who were 1 and 8 and just by a change in attitude coched them to 3 wins in 7 games. I think Saban will bring that much and more in good attitude.

AJ's is a staue too. Sage is the only one on the roster with any mobility

I disagree with the brick wall analogy...He's pretty mobile actually....Not like a Steve Young or a Mcnabb but he's more mobile than Marino was...Not to compare him to Marino but he's not as lead footed as you seem to think...And he's not bad in recognition when the pocket breaks down either...I would say he's about as mobile as Jay Fiedler...Which isn't great but it's not terrible either.

The only thing Frerotte needs to do in this offense, is not make costly mistakes. I'm confident in his decision making, and his pocket awareness. He's certainly less mistake prone than Feeley was....

Those picks last year cost us at least 3 games...maybe even more. As long as Frerotte keeps making good decisions, I think we'll be in solid shape with him....

If not, it's "SAGENFELS" TO THE RESCUE!!!!

PHINZ RULE!!!

Gus ought to say lets have fun cause he knows with him having the rock we wont be winning, so might as well have fun while we lose!
That`s about the type of response I`d expect from somebody in Feeleys home state. I hope Frerotte plays good enough so that we never have to see Feeley play again.

hell, I hope Frerotte plays well enough that we dont even need to see Sage.

my problem with gus is that he still stands in the pocket like he's playing behind a viking o line that gave him all day to throw. he needs to understand behind this line there needs to be some zip. 1-2-3 ball out or 1-2-3-4-5 ball out. i don't know if gus is capable of playing at the speed needed behind our o line. he might be able to adjust but it will take a few more games.
