I was thinking that Gus would, at least, be a consistent QB because of his familiarity with Linehan's system. I don't really care for putting a new QB in the position of learning the offense along with the rest of the team. However, for all of Gus's years spent under Linehan, and for Saban's desire for stability and consistency at the QB position, it is all for nothing because the rest of the offense will get frustrated at the QB's miscues and inept performances. Last week the receivers were not helping Frerotte, and the O-line was horrible. This week, with game-planning and the reigns firmly in his grip, Frerotte gets no better performance. No excuses Gus. No veteran savvy here. No experienced decisionmaking. No consistency and no growth. The development of the playmakers in this offense is built on consistency and confidence- Gus displays neither.

This is getting worse than Wanny's love for Fiedler. If Saban declares Gus the starter next week, I will be extremely po'd, partially because there is not a darn thing i can do. I just know that it is seriously going to hurt this team to go with Gus instead of AJ, I've said that all along but there is no doubt tonight. Gus supposedly knows the system, this just proves how bad he is. He has had a clearcut advantage and could not capitalize.

I really don't think starting Gus over Feeley will "hurt" the team. It's the offense performing consistently and efficiently that I was hoping to see from Gus. I won't be upset with either QB, it's just a little depressing to see that it doesn't matter.

I don't really think that AJ is ever gonna be a star QB, but it helps the team to have him get more experience at QB so he can hold the position for a few years. If we start Frerotte, it's gonna be only 5-6 games before AJ gets in there anyway.

i still say feeley if given the chance will develop into a top 20 qb. i've been opposed to saban constantly giving gus every chance to hang himself and keeping aj on the sideline but I am starting to think that it might have been on purpose. maybe saban just wanted to see what aj was made of - his heart his guts. Alot of qbs wouldve been complaining to the media or sulking. aj took it like a man never complained and made the case that he deserves to be the starter. whether saban gives it to him, i dont know but i do know that aj has improved his game from last year. he's lookin off receivers, he's stayin away from turnovers., hes takin what the defense gives him and he's finally starting to look comfortable in the offense. i think he starts either by wk 1 or the latest after the bye week

Gus doesn't crumble when he's under pressure in the pocket, he may have missed some passes but atleast he plays smart

I hope you are right, because i feel in the same way, but I feel that Gus Magoo Frerotte is going to be the starter under Linehan wing. For some reason i think that AJ is not Linehan choice.

Saban lighting a fire under his butt worked last week, but this was the week that AJ should have been able to prove his worth with the first team and get some wprk with the first team.

ya'll dont get all carried away with aj throwing for one score...
One day Gus might throw for a score too, I mean to the receiver that he intended to throw it to of course, then you can get carried away too. :)

Well we now have either Gus' inaccurate arm or Feelys' bad decisions. Dont know who I want now.
