Gus will have a big game Sunday....

Haha, let's go easy on it for the first bet of the season.

How about if I'm right you two have to have bills avatars and sigs for a week. You must also create a thread saying what you thought of the loss and the bills win and explain your avatar and sig in humiliating fashion.

Same goes for me if you guys are right.

Allright, I would love a case of beer riding on it, but if this is what you want, so be it.

Only a Fish homer would dispute that Elway had the strongest arm in the game. Everyone who saw him knows that. Marino the best of all time? No. Marino worked with a great OL, excellent targets to throw to and a great system. I don't know how many of his TD's were passes from the 1 yard line but there were a lot. Marino wasn't a threat to run either like John was. Marino would have never taken Denver to 5 Superbowls becasue he wouldn't have survived behind those small pourous O-lines Elway worked behind in the Reeves era. Dan has ZERO Superbowl championships, and more importantly, took his team there only once. Elway overcame a mediocre coach with no clue how to build a team, very average offensive talent around him, a small finesse type defense and still took his team to 5 Superbowls. Had he been given Shanahan quality coaching and talent early in his career there's no telling what he'd have done. As for Favre, Elway beat him head to head in the big one that counted, and Brett has not shown he can put a team on his back the way John did. No way he's the 2nd best ever. I've seen Unitas, Namath, Stabler, Tarkenton, Bradshaw, Dawson...everything back to '68. I rank them in the post '68 era like this:

1. Elway
2. Montana
3. Bradshaw
3. Favre
4. Marino
5. Staubach
6. Manning
7. Tarkenton
8. Fouts
9. Young
10. Aikman

On the run your right. From the pocket from the set, Marino was stronger. Only a donkeys homer wouldnt see that. Face it it with bothe side there is some homerism involved, but most expersts would tell you teh same. Elway was magical in the way he could summon power on the run while maintaining his accuracy. Marino was known for his lightning release with mustard on it from the set pocket. Drop back, set and throw, Marino had a stronger arm. On the move, Elway.

....because he has a great supporting cast. He can get the ball to the playmakers and keep it away from the defense. If our O-line is improved over last year even marginally it will make a big difference. Gus will hit some big plays to Chambers and Boston. Booker will have the most catches of the WRs. Welker will even contribute from the slot. Those long passes Gus was missing a few weeks ago - he will be hitting some of them. We WILL attack Denver both in the air and on the ground. Don't look for conservative ANYTHING. For the first time in a VERY VERY long time, we have a team that WANTS TO GO TO WAR for their coach. And they will be determined to win each battle and ultimately win the war. Look for a few typical end-arounds and few other plays of trickery. But for the most part, Miami will take it right at them. We will be balanced and aggressive. We will take several shots down field. Keep your eyes open for one of the prettiest long TD passes you've seen in a long time.
I predict that Gus will go over 300 with 2 TDs. R.Brown will run one in. Brown will have a very good day, gaining around 125 yards of total offense.and will be at least effective enough to keep Denver off balance and respecting the run. Ironically, our passing game will be what wins this game. I'm going with 27-13. Our defense is going to be MUCH better than any of us have anticipated. We're going to see some awesome tricks. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that we will lead the league with the best turnover ratio.

Now...SHOOT!

Ya know, perhaps the Fins have a trick or two up their sleeve, perhaps they'll be more aggressive offensively than we have been in the past, perhaps Gus will actually not overthrow his recievers all day long like he has in the preseason, but what even glimses has this team shown that would make you think we'll be quite that successful ?? Look, good practice makes for good play in the games...our practice (the preseason) has been less-than-mediocre...Where do you get this optimism from ???

Hoof...What you have to categorize is how effective the QB is compared to any system...Marino was NOT a system qb, and he did not have great or even good OLs most of his career. Elway, carried the Broncs until the rest of the talent on the team improved. That never happened with Danny.

That said, I look at Elway, Marino, Favre, and Unitas as the group of QBs that would have been successful in any team and any era, whereas guys like Bradshaw, Montana, Young, Fouts, Aikman were diffenently "system" QBs that were as successful because of the system they were in and in the case of Young and Montana, the talent that always surrounded them....

But actually, to choose one, because I'm a homer and if I were starting a team, I'd want Marino, but certainly could not go wrong with Elway or any of the others I listed above.

I think I'm going to leave that whole Gus and winning thing alone. PROVE IT! New Coach, New QB, New System... New Results vs the Broncos at home!

As for the Michigan game... I've not studied to much college football this year. I do know that both teams have suspect defenses. I'd have to say that Michigan pulls out a fairly easy win here. Mainly b/c they have ND at home and they have explosive athletes that are good in the return game as well. Final score Michigan 34 ND 21.

Now, for the REAL game. UT vs OSU. #2 vs #4. Texas has a beast of an OL. OSU has the best (arguably IOWA!!!) LB crew in the nation. Texas has three players on offense that can really steal the stage. Vince Young, Ro Taylor, and Selvin Young. Vince doesn't have very many options in his WR's, but he has a good TE and one decent target in Limas Sweed (6'4 200). OSU's WR's are electric. Ginn Jr especially. He is the guy that will have to be watched closely. Big players play big in big games. This could be a coming out party for Ginn Jr. I'm a UT fan and I know exactly what they bring to the table. They have two DL players that will be All Americans. They have a safety/CB (Huff) that will be amongst the All Americans. They have a OL that will likely produce 4 NFLers. But it's not easy to go into Ohio States Kitchen and steal a victory. Final score. Texas 24 Ohio State 27........ but I'm hoping UT can pull it out~!

Any way you slice it Marino didn't have a stronger arm than Elway. I don't care if you're talking sitting down indian style and throwing the ball...Elway had the stronger arm. Now if you want to talk about releases, touch, or even accuracy I'll give the nod to Marino. Arm strength isn't even comparable! Also keep in mind that Elway is the winningest (is that a word, looks funny!) QB in NFL history!!! He did that while passing to guys like Vance Jackson, Mark Jackson, Ricky Nattiel, Steve Watson, and later in his career Rod Smith, Shannon Sharpe and Eddy Mac. Havind Duper and Clayton is basically the same as Montana and Young having Jerry Rice!!!

yeah im sure none of you want to hear my take but dude no the man doesnt have any team chemistry from what im hearing his timing is off with the recievers and your o-line hasnt realy improved you dont realy have a threat at te

your o-line wont have what it takes to stand up against the broncos d-line it was pushing the colts line around all over the place and no need to say they are far superior to the dolphins the linebackers shouldnt have much of a problem shutting down brown some one said brown was bigger than all of our linebackers i checked it out not true at all but anyway champ should play like a champ lynch should take atleast one person completely off their feet and since that qb of yours likes to throw high im thinking lenny walls being 6'4" he might have a pick especialy if we do take the lead early with you guys throwing alot

That's an intelligent post!!! You're probably right though... better leave the football talk for those that know and understand the game!

I'm thinking along the same lines i called 17-14 the other day im pretty sure and I think Frerotte will have around 200-250 yards mark. I think he will throw a touchdown and maybe and Interception because I can see Broncos coming up with some big Defensive plays tomorrow.

I think 200 yards is a little high. This IS a homer view, but I'd be surpised if the Phins came up with 300 yards total offense!!!
