Pro Bowler
We will have the 25th or 26th pick in the draft and there is some good talent there that could really help out our team:
Terrence Cody*, Alabama NT
Height: 6-5. Weight: 365.
Projected 40 Time: 5.50.
11/23/08: Terrence Cody said he's not declaring early, but once he discovers that he has a great shot at being drafted in the top 15, he could reconsider. Cody is a monstrous run-stuffer and should be a Kris Jenkins-like difference-maker at the next level.
Alex Mack, California C
Height: 6-5. Weight: 316.
Projected 40 Time: 5.13.
Projected Round (2009): 1.
11/2/08: Alex Mack continues his dominance on the field and atop these rankings. It's hard to imagine that he'll make it past the Cardinals, Steelers and Bills in the first round.
5/26/08: Alex Mack nearly left for the NFL a year early. That's not surprising, as the unanimous All-Pac-10 first-teamer is the best center prospect in a long time.
Vontae Davis, Illinois CB
Height: 6-0. Weight: 200.
Projected 40 Time: 4.39.
Projected Round (2009): Top 25 Pick.
12/13/08: Though Vonte Davis was benched this season, he still qualified for the All-Big Ten First Team. Davis finished the year with 78 tackles, seven TFL and eight passes broken up.
5/17/08: There's a chance Vontae Davis could surpass Malcolm Jenkins. In his two seasons at Illinois, Davis has registered 128 tackles, five picks and 14 passes broken up.
Michael Johnson, Georgia Tech DE/OLB
Height: 6-7. Weight: 257.
Projected 40 Time: 4.63.
Projected Round (2009): Top 15 Pick.
11/16/08: Athleticism has never been Michael Johnson's problem;
2007: Any 3-4 hybrid linebacker who has a 4.6 and weighs 250 or more pounds definitely has a shot to go in the first round. Michael Johnson is a solid pass rusher, accumulating four sacks in 2007. He considered leaving school early but decided to return for his senior campaign, showing intelligence and character.
Brandon Spikes*, Florida ILB
Height: 6-3. Weight: 244.
Projected 40 Time: 4.65.
Projected Round (2009): 1.
12/7/08: Brandon Spikes has been a beast this year, and is almost a first-round lock. Going into the SEC Championship, Spikes recorded 80 tackles, eight TFL, two sacks and four picks (two returned for touchdowns.)
5/11/08: In addition to being a sound tackler (a whopping 131 stops in 2007), Brandon Spikes is also great in pass coverage.
Clint Sintim, Virginia LB
Height: 6-3. Weight: 254.
Projected Projected 40 Time: 4.66.
Projected Round (2009): 1.
12/6/08: Playing rush linebacker in the 3-4, Clint Sintim has been a pass-rushing machine, owning 12.5 TFL and 11 sacks in 10 games. He can also play strongside linebacker in the 4-3.
5/16/08: Clint Sintim should be able to play strongside or middle linebacker at the next level. Sintim had an outstanding junior campaign.
Could possibly move down to get this guy (25th pick is fairly easy to trade)
Sean Smith*, Utah S/CB
Height: 6-3. Weight: 214.
Projected 40 Time: 4.44.
Projected Round (2009): 2-3.
12/13/08: Sean Smith has been a beast this season, and no one can blame him if he declares a year early. An All-Mountain West first-teamer, Smith collected 40 tackles, five picks (one touchdown) and eight passes broken up. Could play corner or safety in the NFL.
Height: 6-5. Weight: 365.
Projected 40 Time: 5.50.
