IMO we badly need to draft a center and move back hadnot to RG (his best position in my minds), move Shelton to LG and with a draftee LT our OL would be solid.

Imagine : LT : Brown or Staley or Alabi (the best is the starter), LG : Shelton, Centers : Khalil (in exeample), RG : Hadnot (with toledo at back up), and RT : carey

Opinions ?

If we get a center to replace Hadnot, I would prefer to move Hadont to LG and keep Shelton at RG. Shelton performed pretty well there and he and Carey formed a very good tandem.

Actually, Hadnot is a decent center..
He's still young and is capable of jacking- up a defensive tackle..
What he lacks is the quickness to fire -out on LB's after his initail
block or on pulling plays...

Lets see what Cam has in mind... He did say something about
building the line from the inside-out...

Exactly. Leave Shelton and Carey alone. We've finally solved some of the puzzle, let's not screw with what IS working.

In my mind, Hadnot's a starter on the line, we just need to figure out where, C or LG.

I've been saying all along I'd LOVE to have Brown and Kahlil on draft day. That could resolve our starting OLine problems and we'd emerge pretty young on the line with a great squad. Just give 'em time to gell.

I agree. We have a legit shot at Brown, I just don't see how we can get Kalil too unless we trade back up into the 1st for him. I can see him going anywhere from 22 on.

I tell u, as much as some people think that Levi is a reach at 9 . . . I don't see how anybody could get upset if we get Levi and Kalil on Day One, that would be a fantastic draft. However, I'm still very intrigued with Alabi, and if what people say is true, I would rather draft more of an impact player (Ted Ginn) at 9.

Hadnot probably is better fit at LG.

I like shelton at RG as well. That side of the line performed admirably when they were put together.

I would love to land kalil but theres no way he is around with our 2A, so if we do indeed take brown at nine, I am hoping to snag a LG to go along with him like sears, blalock or ramirez. Hadnot could than stay at center, since he is pretty decent there anyway and we would just have to let cam work his magic with our two rookies.

I don't know much about later round centers so the only one I really want right now would be kalil and than I would want him to bulk up a bit I think.

right now I think we are taking landry or branch, but if we trade down we could very well pick up kalil and a LG or LT with our early second.

personally, I like him as Rb.....right benchwarmer that is.....

exactly. i think he deserves a shot to show he's gotten better, but if he's the same player this year that he was last year, we have to do better than that.

We need some big time athletes up front! For this reason alone; Toledo (provided he can stay healthy --- which is a substantial question mark) needs to find a place on the line. I say he’s a good fit at RG where him and Carey could form a formidable tandem coupled with a bulldozer TE and the new FB --- that could be a pretty serious combination. On the left side we need a big-time T and then move Hadnot to G, which means we need a new C. Find a way to get Kahlil (probably depends on trade maneuvering) or take Datish (a very realistic target in round 3 or 4). Either of these guys IMO would be a significant upgrade over Hadnot as a C. You’ve got to keep in mind our OL talent has been so [horrible-poor-mediocre] Hadnot has looked more solid than he really is. On the other hand, if we where used to dominant OL play, Hadnot (based on what I’ve seen of him) would prove “adequate,†but certainly NOT a standout (he lacks the essential explosiveness of an elite C, and I’m not so sure his football IQ is up to the task either).

All of this depends on what philosophy the team is going to follow. If we’re going to cut-and-paste another OL then we’ll pick glamour boys who can run and jump, but it will be the same old sewage as far as no consistent holes in the running game, and the QB will be getting smashed routinely. On the other hand, which I strongly believe is the direction we’re going, if we build the offense from the ground (game) up, and invest HEAVILY in talent across the front --- we’ve got a legitimate shot at becoming a real “TEAM.†Something we haven’t been for a long, long time…

If Toledo gets healthy and has a decent camp then he is definitely one to consider for left guard. By most accounts his injury troubles are due to the fluctuations in his weight, something that should hopefully be resolved by an NFL level strength and conditioning coach. If healthy, he possesses the skills to be a very good guard and maybe even play tackle for us. I'm rooting for him.

People's opinions on Hadnot differ, some people think he was a heck of a guard for us, some believe he's a decent center. I really wouldn't be opposed to bringing Seth McKinney back in for depth purposes as I thought he was really improving at center the season before Hadnot took over there.

McKinney signed with Cleveland a couple of day ago.
