Hagan was praised for his work ethic in the off season by Sorano but how good can he be is the question. Dorall says his receivers have potential and Hagan is in his "Breakout Year" so if Hagan wants to be on the field more than just a #3 option he needs to beat out Wilford for #2. otherwise he will be cut next year or traded because of contract reasons. If someone has his contract info please post. Anyway,Wilford is a good addition and i like Hagan and hope he does well this year. Go Fins in 2008:up::D:up:

i really hope hagan puts it together this year, just another saved draft pick for the future, and a good move in the right direction to being a contender. i hope hagan and ginn turns into smith and mccaffrey for us.

With our wr depth Hagan has little to worry about. I think at some point he does become the starter over Wilford though.

If Hagan plays to his potential or all the Hagan Hype he brought w/him a couple of years ago, then he will have a good year. Typically, Rookie WR's in their 3rd years do breakout or go away. But I don't know if he'll beat out Wilford as the WR2, mostly because their both big guys & very similiar. Wilord has the experience though & has pretty good hands. And true Hagan was impressing in camp, but I don't know if he's going to get a lot of looks w/Ginn & Wilford out there. I also think they're going to line up Bess in the slot (WR3) at times, which doesn't help Hagan either. I don't know if he'll be cut or shopped, but I think the only way Hagan see's significant time is if Wilford (or Ginn) look awful.

Hagan's contract will have nothing to do with whether or not he is on the team next year. Derek is due $445,000 this season and $530,000 next season.

lol Hagan is in year 3 of a rookie contract and he was selected in round 3 . . . he doesn't make much at all . . . contract is not a concern wit him. I don't think he wins the #2 . . . simply put because we already have an inexperienced Ginn starting . . . I doubt we have 2 inexperienced guys . . . atleast Wilford has started for a couple of years and has the size and hands that you want in a WR.

That being said . . . may the best 2 guys start . . . just like the Qb position.

Hagan can easily win the starting job. Right now the only difference between Wilford and Hagan is that Earnest has spent alot more years in the NFL unable to win a starting job, and the only one out there for him was with the worst team in the league so lets not act like Hagan's talent can't win him the job.

Wilford wasn't handed anything either. And there's no question which one has more athleticism, its definately gonna be a battle to watch in the preseason. I like the small, medium and large threesome Ginn, Hagan and Wilford create so I am not to worried about who's labeled a 1 or 2. I am sure Earnest wants to start though so he's gotta earn it, and judging from his character I think he fully intends to.

He's got all the skills he needs he just needs to hold onto the ball, he really needs to unlearn everything taught to him by chris chambers.

Yea because Chris Chambers sucks so bad that he is better than any receiver we have. People act like Chambers never made any plays lol.

OH YEAH HE WILL BE CUT *sarcasm* Seriously you need depth in football and derek hagan is better then everyone besides Ted/Wilford.

Sounds like you are getting Ernest Wilford confused with someone else. This is Wilford's 5th season in the NFL so he has only been in the league two more years than Hagan. Wilford also started 26 of the last 32 games (37 starts in all) for Jacksonville and decided to leave the Jaguars because they couldn't agree on a new contract or an extension.

Could disagree with you more. Although it is clear Hagan needs to step up he will not be cut if Wilford ends up at 2. We need 4 good recievers and if he keeps doing what he has done this off-season and that translates to the field he will not be cut.
