All I see on our boards are upset, angry, frustrated fans. GET USED TO IT! You're gonna be upset/angry/frustrated for a long while; but in the end, your team will be better for it. Face it, teams like NE/NYJ/NOS languished below mediocrity for decades before learning the trade of 'doing it right'...that's where our team is now...back on the road to doing it right. That takes change, and change upsets/angers/frustrates the timid...but remember my brothers/sisters in Phindom, we will get to the promised land!...be strong, stay focused, remain resolute...and above all, trust...too many campaigns have been wasted on short term dillusions of long term gains...money gone, prospects along with and no return...we've been getting an ever increasing share of a depreciating market; no company on Big Blue has nor ever will survive doing that...go ahead, ask around....better yet, look around where you are...how many businesses do you see going under?...here one day, gone the next...they got it wrong!...stop kidding ourselves, THIS IS A BUSINESS...yeah tickets are going up, parking, concessions...but when some jackass pays out $80m for a cornerback, the rest of the league gets the 'trickle-down'...I say, we take our lumps, shake off the dust and show the rest of the league that, yeah...you've been kickin out butts and having your way...but the Miami Dolphins AIN'T GOIN NO WHERE!!!...get us now, but please believe...WE WILL BE BACK! ****ED, LOCKED & READY TO ROCK!!!...holla

finally a sane voice!
people dont understand that if we go out and get dielmen, clements, and all the big names we will be in cap trouble for years to come.

You mean that just because I only see these guys on tv for 3 hours on Sundays and I don't sit in meeting and I don't watch film that I don't know EVERTHING? LOL

Great post.

And it hit me like a ton of bricks when I read the "Dolphins trying to trade McMichael" article.

Randy Mueller wants to build through the draft. It'll probably take three years, but it's the absolute correct way to go.

No more stop-gap solutions leading to 8-8 or 9-7 years.

i think this is a great post and we need to think about this. i am not however completely sold on the whole idea and i think we need to sign the right guys and pay them what they are worth. these top guys in FA are mostly too old like Carter was when we signed him. Dielman on the other hand is 26 and well worth the money when you see the gaping holes he opened up for LT. i think if we sign one big tim FA it has to be dielman The rush blocker and pro bowler that is still yound and a monster for years to come.

well said,
we have to start clean and build a team for the next 3 to five years Management has tried to win NOW and we just don't have the talent.
Rather watch a bunch of young guys loose than a bunch of overpaid no upside to their playing and no hope loose.

There are no quick fixes and easy answers... except in TV sitcoms.

you sure got that right .

but if the randyman isnt here who will be the voice of reason of the team jason and zach were recently put in their place by the randyman himself. randy not only boxed jason and zach's ears but he almost boxed wanny's ears as well. who is going to be the heart of our offense ?

if this helps us to get over the hump ,ok but the te's out in f/a are not that appealling.

i say we trade weedy, morris and minor and bring in ahmand green .

Listen, nobody is calling for us to sign dielman, clements, and "ALL" the big names...

MIA let go of 6 OLinemen clearing $8.25mil, 4 DLinemen clearing $7.2mil, and 3 LBs. We are now at $22mil under with another $2mil pending Harrington's release. As well as $5mil pending a Mcmichael trade.

Mare has $2mil pending his release/trade/restructure...yada, yada, yada...

It wasnt the fans that made up the Dielman and Porter rumors...it was official reports.

With all these cuts... and MIA contacting Porter's agent as well as stating that Dielman being our "#1 priority"....

This is where all the "expectations" and "anticipations" came from.

It was all realistic and looked very likely.

Of course, all because we clear over $20mil of cap space doesnt mean that "Oh, boy! We are going to spend it ALL!"...

No. We expected the "reports" to be true. A signing of either Dielman or Porter.

We arent rebuilding like some are assuming. We have kept Jason Taylor, Zach Thomas, and Daunte Culpepper. They are all over 30 years old. We have also dished out a $7mil signing bonus on re-signing Vonnie Holiday who is also over 30 years old.

So we arent rebuilding. We are getting rid of "underachievers". Mueller stated that that was the real reason we cut Carter.

So Mcmichael is a lousy run/pass blocker. So thus his being shopped.

Big Daddy disappointed. Thus his trade.

I think that the Dielman thing was actually true. We were intent on signing him. But once Joey Porter became available...Mueller shifted priorities.

He has now made Joey Porter his #1 priority. Dielman will probably sign elsewhere. And we probably use Brady Quinn to trade down and draft either Kalil, Olsen, Okoye, Branch, or Levi Brown in the 1st round. This is what I think as of now...

Solution...Trade down, once more, and again until you have maybe a late 1st rounder and more 2nd's. The key is in the 2nd and 3rd round. Low cash and talent. Just the bonus money for that top 10 pick will pay for all the rest of the draft. Trade that guy away.
Right now I would say the better pick for the money to be Kolb, Stanton, and maybe Jabrankid very late round. I hate going into the past but Bart Starr and Johnny U was way way down there and they became Famers, and Brady was 2nd day. In today's world Montana was also a 2nd day.

Have a nice day.

Trading down again & again as you put it would be tempting but you don't want to risk losing out on a difference maker @ our original spot.
