So what do you guys think about the way our Dolphins are handling Free Agency thus far????

I must admit that I was a bit upset at the fact that we didn't bust out the gate rushing to sign free agents....but now that I think about it, I think we've handled it alot better than most of us think.

I mean, in my opinion, this free agency was a bit weaker than other years. The 2 best players (arguably) were Clements and A. Thomas and I must say I wasn't too thrilled about either of them. Maybe Clements, but definetly not for the money he signed with San Francisco for. A.Thomas is getting old, and although he is Porters age, Porter has proven he's a foce in this league for alot longer. As you can see the better Free agents were tagged. Lance Briggs, Asante Samuel, etc.

In my opinion If Joey Porter signs with the Dolphins, we will be signing the 2nd best, if not the best, player available in Free Agency, including tagged or untagged players. Porter is arguably the best player available behind Lance Briggs. We could go from having the worst linebacker corps to the best linebacker corps in one offseason and by siging Porter people can argue that we already had a better offseason than alot of teams.

And while there are still some players that are worth taking a look at, (i.e., Mike Doss), I really don' see any rush in signing them. We have to keep in mind that the quicker we sign them, the more money they will ask for. As opposed to waiting out, then the Dolphins have the upper hand.

All in all, I think we've handled Free agency very well. IF we sign Porter (which is all but done), then it would make my free agent offseason. I'm sure we will eventually sign more players as time goes by, but there's no need to rush, simply because they are not good enough to brake the bank for.

I am happy so far. There is still a lot of work to do yet in free agency, but I am loving all the picks Mueller is getting. Draft weekend is going to be very exciting.

I'm still questioning the McMichael release and the Welker trade. Welker might not have been the greatest guy ever or anything but he played his heart out and just might've been our best WR last year. I hope with the 2 picks we got for him that the picks amount to something close to him.

The McMichael release was the biggest surprise so far. It's been reported that we tried to trade him but no one wanted to bite. That being the case, unless we have a plan to replace him with someone of equal talent or better, why let him go?

I like the Porter and Martin signing. I'm unsure of Kelly Washington. I don't know much about the guy so judgement will be held in check.

As for other moves, I'd like to see us pickup Hicks from SF so he can replace Welker at KR/PR.

The draft will be really exciting as well. Hopefully we can trade up with the 2nd rd pick we got from NE

I am happy because we are not doing the same ol same ol. We are actually cleaning house from guys collecting paychecks or are not that good.

our next big splash will be the draft. We will get other players but the core of how good we will be on offense will come via draft.

I like the idea of using that 2nd round pick to trade up in the draft. We could either trade up to get Joe Thomas or Calvin Johnson. OL and WR are two key areas that Miami still needs to fill. Either one of those guys will be able to start this season. And of course, there is the big question of Brady Quinn. Miami could trade up to get him.

Free Agency will go on for awhile still. But right now, most of the top names are gone. There might be some more names popping up later.

you know, these past years, I tried and kept quiet trying the "In Saban We Trust" way of living, even though sometimes, I wanted to scream.

Now, after the first couple of days, I was like going crazy, but cam and randy totally have a plan. I'm happy. and I'm proud. I'm proud to wear my fin clothing again, I'm so exitied and pumped, and I'm standing behind our guys.

GO FINS!

go get us a WR now!

On the McMichael deal, we cut him for the same reason we couldn't trade him. He was due a 3 million dollar roster bonus that the trading team would have been liable for. No team was going to pay him that.

He'll get some interest in the FA market now, but he needs to wait until some of the other FA TEs set the value for him.

I like the job that CC and RM are doing so far. We need to take it slow and continue to try to add more draft picks. There isn't one player on our team IMO that isn't fair game.

If we could deal Chambers now, we could be a real factor in the draft by getting alot of young players.

Overall I'm pretty pleased, Cam and Randy seem to have no problem with cutting dead weight and have been stocking up picks to infuse this team with much-needed youth. I'm a little peeved that we let Dmac walk, but we may draft Brown and I've heard that the opinion around Davie is that Alabi may be ready to go (may or may not be true, just what I've heard). Getting that 2nd for Welker was a nice move....we're gonna miss him, but we can get a couple solid players in the 2nd now (Meachem and a corner, maybe Revis or McCauley?)

Meachem will be a first rounder. As for McCauley and Revis, i say no to both. McCauley had a weak senior bowl performance, and Revis ran a 4.55 at the combine.

Why would anyone care that DMac walked? DMac was the classic deadweight that has been plaguing the Fins forever. He sucked. We need to get better at LT or we won't be better as a team.

None of those guys, Meachem, Revis, McCauley, will be available with the Patriots #2 pick that we traded for. We should be able to get three good players though with our first and two second round picks.

Agree with pretty much everything you said.

Dmac gave up less sacks then the elite LT's in the league...To let him go is a mistake because we have absolutely no1 to fill his shoes.

When the Fins sign Hamlin ill be pleased until then i give us a c+ grade.

I just don't get it. How could anyone think overpaying free agents in the initial signing wave would be beneficial to this team? No offense, but if you were of this mind, you've not been paying much attention to the NFL since the advent of free agency. Free agency is not a viable tool for building a contender, and premium free agents, those that sign for absurd contracts in the first few days of free agency are almost like poison to a team. The team is forced to cut good players in two years in order to pay for the orgy of free agent spending that is going on in the present.

So I ask, how are so many seduced by the prospect of paying LaVar Arrington "whatever it takes" (which was a popular refrain last year), or paying Eric Steinbach, or Kris Dielman (neither of whom has ever been to a Pro Bowl) $7 mil. per to play guard! Not left tackle. Guard! (The easiest position on the entire roster to fill! Dielman wasn't even drafted.) Paying big dollars in free agency doesn't even work with teams on the verge of a championship. If the Ravens don't win it all this year, the roster will be gutted next year because as Ozzie Newsome said after spending a lot of money on Trevor Pryce, Steve McNair and Mike Anderson last year, the Ravens (one of the model franchises) will be so far over the projected cap number it'll require the total demolition of the roster. Corey Simon didn't do the Colts much good last year, and I remember what was said when they signed him "he's the missing piece that'll make the defense good enough to win the Big One", no, he played one season, cost them $15 mil in salary and bonus, and now he's no longer on the team. That's free agency in microcosm. The NFL is not major league baseball, or even the NBA.
