hard knocks Observations Ep 2

-Sean smith looked really good in Epi 2, he shutdown ocho on slants, curls, almost 90% of the routes he covered chad on. This is why i dont want them giving up on sean smith yet, i think the talent is there, it just dont seem to show up in the games for some reason. Hopefully it will against carolina this week.
-Mike sherman is making his presense felt. Threatened to cut egnew if he didnt start focusing and running the correct routes. Expects perfections out of his WR and TE's.
-Philbin and bob griese watchin game film together. sharing opinions.
-Philbin has a nice talk with CJ before cutting him, which seemed to gain some respect from chad johnson, chad showed respect to philbin for supporting him in this tough time for chad. Philbin wished him well and they parted ways, chad thanked him for the opportunity.
-Ireland looked frustrated when he got off the phone with someone who told him garrard was out a month. Never seen him that frustrated.
-Jake Long and Some DE got into a nasty fight, had to be broken up fast. Incognito came to his defense.

From what im seeing , players are responding to tannehill coming out on to the field, you dont get that same feeling with moore.

Smith's issue is not so much his coverage rather it's his tackling.

I don't know...I haven't got years of experience judging demeanor of NFL quarterbacks. Do you have experience that we don't? I'm not calling you out, just asking? I thought the "some good, some bad" comment was a straight answer. Is he a backup because he didn't attempt to BS the QB coach? What was going on before that clip was filmed? Maybe there was something that put him in a happy mood? Who knows? As far as Matt being surprised that he was starting, Garrard's back WAS turned to him when Moore entered the room. Maybe he didn't see the compression boot? Put yourself in Moore's shoes...if you were in the room and thought Garrard was getting the start and then you found out he was injured and that YOU were starting, would you be happy? I agree Tannehill looks good, and I hope that his career is managed well and he will be put in when he's ready.

Again, not splitting hairs, but it seems like you are ready for Moore to be gone. I think he did a good job last season and think he deserves another shot until Tannehill shows he's ready to step up.

Yes, I have about a little over a decade of judging backup QB demeanors since they have all been starting for us since Marino retired. Besides that, you completely misconstrued my point. My argument was never that Moore shouldn't be on the team, quite the contrary, he's a great backup. And his "honest" answer lacked the mechanical depth that I would like to see a starting QB articulate. Even when he talks about his job he says "there's only 32 guys doing this job," implying that it's a long shot for him to be a starter in the NFL. But that's the point, Matt Moore is a career backup. He doesn't carry himself or even talk about himself as a starter in this league. Isn't that more telling than any flashes you thought you saw in a totally different system last year? And btw this is the NFL, guys get hurt everyday, and as a backup your job is to be ready to go at all times. Granted, he didn't see Garrard but he seemed unrealistically surprised. Just my 2 cents...

I haven't had this much respect for a Dolphin coach since Shula.
Philbin is a class act!!!

-Garard didnt seem unhappy at about his injury. In fact, he seemed to be happy about having an injury. If I were him I would have been crushed.
-Some people in this thread say Sean Smith locked down Chad Johnson. I didnt see that at all. I saw CJ beating Smith every time he ran inside or underneath.
-They need to cut Les Brown now and give Egnew more snaps. TE is too hard to learn for someone like Les Brown who hasnt played football before. Egnew looked like he has no lower body strength at all and cant block worth ****.
-Coaches really seem to have issues with Roberto "ankle-weight" Wallace. The staff says he can't get open, but then they dont promote a Chris Hogan who is "always open"?. I think HBO is leaving out a lot of footage in this story on Wallace....
-When Philbin was on the phone with someone (likely Irlenad) he mentioned another incident with CJ that wasnt previously reported. He said he went off on some kind of tirade a few weeks back, and then mentioned the press conference thing. Sounds like he would have been cut regardless of the arrest.

It's compelling I am more excited about the new coaching staff then anything especially when you compare them to them to what we saw from the Jets much more professional. Rex was more concerned about lunch then anything else.

You are on point Phinz I started to feel a little bad for him but then I saw he was wearing slippers to essentially an interview type situation and quickly reminded myself of what a complete self absorbed dip stick he is, he should have been canned right after the stupid presser he gave. T.O. who is also a stooge is at least playing the professional persona piece right now (wont last) enough so that wont lose him the job in Seattle. What is with that stupid chirping noise CJ makes when he is on the field the receivers coach should have pulled him off the field and made him do wind sprints until he cut that s!@# out. Now as soon as Moore and Wallace stop trading drops maybe we can fill that slot.

That was a good observation and I was seeing Moore in a different light until that. I don't know if that was enough to write the book on him but I would have wanted him to react differently in those situations. Garrard has a huge ass compression device on his leg and Moore doesen't get it. I really think the cameras in the room effected how that scene played out

it is still a t.v show guys..the criticism of players will get highlighted for fringe starters and the praises for underdogs will be juiced up..All to create amazing episodes like this one. Now everyone wants to see hogan get more chances and see how wallace responds. I love it all,but they put on the show what they know is of interest. Lets keep it all in perspective and not get to high or low on a certain player until it really matters.
