I was talking with a few buddies about Harrington and we got confused on his contract. I coulda swore it was just for a year but my friends thought otherwise. Looking online, it seems tons of news sources are confused too. Some say just this year and others say 3 yrs. Can anyone confirm which one it is? Also, if he is just for a year, wouldnt it be tough to resign for a low number? I was always on Culpepper's bandwagon (one of the few who have his jersey) but I rly am coming around on Harrington. I think he was awesome today and a class act. THe press conference showed him looking like a leader too. I hope he is here to stay.

I believe it's a three year deal with options for the second year that would require us to keep him for the 2nd and 3rd years. He will likely have to restructure to stay next year if I am correct.

It is three years. He got a $2 million signing bonus and is making 800k for this season. In the spring he will get a $1 million bonus, and he will make roughly $1.7 million for the 2007 season. The 2008 year sky rockets and forces the team to either re-do his contract, cut him or trade him. The 2008 year calls for a $10 million bonus and a base salary of $5 million.
