I just wanted to make sure that I wasnt the only one to c it. And I know it is a pre-season game but i have more examples. Saban loves to blitz, which is good, but itll tire your defence especially in the 4th quarter. Another example i have is the 2003 Sugar Bowl when he Beat OU. He killed us in the first 3 quarters, but since he did nothig but blitz, it gave OU a chance to sneak back into the game, and almost win. I really dont think that our defence can handle so many blitzs in one game. What do yall think?

I think it will really get to some of our player like Junior and Zach but if we can rotate some of the younger guys in I think we would be fine.

Please don't bring that up!!!!!!!! But yea LSU blitz like crazy and we didn't have a clue what was going on but towards the end when OU scored again and made it 21 to 14 you could see the defense out there with their hands on their knees. Too bad Stoops didn't change game plans like other coaches would. i.e. Saban and Pete Caroll.

Maybe after this year and with everyone whos playing this year returning we could but with the heat and humidity of our state and give the weather durning most games i dont think we can hadle it but who knows maybe the chanlange will bring everyone up a notch and cuase osme people to get on the ball.

I'm not sure Saban wants to be too blitz-heavy this year, but if the assumption that we're eventually moving to more 3-4 is true, we're going to need more quality depth at LB so we can rotate. A good example is the Pats LB corps the past few years.

Eddie Moore finally getting/staying healthy would be a nice start, but I think we're still a good 2-3 guys away from being *that* deep.

I noticed that the D was a little legged towards the end of the game, but attributed it to tired practice legs, not so much that we blitzed a lot. You have a point there, but we really have to wait and see...remember we've been in camp longer than any other team...

I don't think a defense heavy on blitzing will tire guys out anymore than a read and react defense. In a sense, the blitzing might keep some guys fresh, because they are forcing the offense to adjust and react in order to get a block, but in read and react, the offense knows where the defender will be and it's easier to get a block. That's how a good center like Kevin Mawae always gets the better of Zach. He always knew that Zach would be the primary defender waiting in the gap. In our defense now, Mawae won't be able to key on one guy.

We'll have lots of depth at the LB position.

hey finfan90 I agree with you about blizting . did you hear that jason white retirred today jim and al said his knees are really bothering him. i glad we didnt draft him. but i wouldn't mind it if we could bring in nate hybel .

A big difference between college and the pros is that players are chosen not just on talent, but they also have to be conditioned well enough to handle all four quarters.

With exception to Manuel Wright. He needs lots of conditioning. LOTS.
