I remember the Ronnie brown love started when he ran a 4.3/4.4 (something like that) at the combine. Given his size and the hype that he was already given, it solidified his status as a top 5 pick.

That first year though, he never really impressed me with his speed. I loved the resilience he showed, and he really did a great job at finishing runs and absolutely destroying defenders, a lot of times taking 3-5 guys to get him down. But he wasn't ever fast.

Even in his second season, which most RB detractors will point out that he got out-played at times by a seemingly faster Sammy Morris, he didn't seem that fast. Even worse, I didn't quite see the same resilience out of him.

The last two years, though, he's been a completely different runner. He's quick, and he is making great runs not just through breaking tackles, but through excellent vision and some legitimate speed. He's essentially a physical freak, combining a ridiculous ability to maul defenders yet still possessing top speed.

Am I the only one who has noticed an incredible difference in the new Ronnie Brown, compared to the old?

He seems to be seeing the seams better. That does have somthing to do with the Oline play though. Look at the highlight of the "Broken play"......There's at least two of our guys looking back towrds Ronnie...I find that a bit scary, but, at the same time, Ronnie took it to the house. Cromartie got the *F* out of the way when Ricky launched himself.

My opinion of Ricky is takeing an uptick....As much ill will as I have towards him, he's playing very unselfishly.

I don't know about him being faster but I've noticed that the man is punishing tacklers. He's got the Csonka type of attitude...I'm gonna hurt you if you try to tackle me!

He may not be faster but he is PLAYING faster...he is patient then hits holes and finishes runs and is moving extremely well i think he is making people look slow.

I'm not so sure he is faster but the game has seemed to slow do for Ronnie.

Ronnie Brown is playing tough physical football for sure but he is also playing a lot SMARTER!

Last year and this year he seems faster than he did in previous years. Maybe quicker describes it better.

What I noticed about Ronnie is that, not only will he lower a shoulder when he's about to plow into a defender who's isolated and in his way... but he lowers himself into an almost launching position and seems to speed up before he makes contact. Most other backs I can think of will conversely slow down when they lower a shoulder so as to brace for impact.

I first noticed this when he slammed into the Raider last year at the goal line, and then again when he smashed Ellis in the Pats game this year, again at the goal line. And now below (again courtesy of nosleep.)

See if he doesn't speed up before he goes wrecking ball on Cromartie. Most other backs would lower a shoulder and hit the DB when they get there. Ronnie seems to be in a hurry to do it. It's kind of amazing to me, actually.

I personally think that his physical skillset is the same from when he was drafted... Only difference is his "vision" is improved DRAMATICALLY.

Good observation he makes sure is the one delivering the blow

It's not that he's gotten faster, it's more to do with the game slowing down for him and seeing the holes that he didn't see in his first two years in the NFL.

What it was that happened to Ronnie is he didn't have confidence in his running ability in his first 2 years..

I contribute his success solely on the confidence he gained in his ability..

The confidence gave him the ability to be more creative when he runs and the confidence gave him better vision.

I said when he was in his rookie year that he has all the physical ability's and that if he ever gets confidence he could be a great runningback.

I'll be honest I actually hated to watch him run the 1st 2 years...yeah he looked great when there was a hole but other times he'd be to focused on the prescribed hole and if it wasn't there he'd run right into the back of his lineman. He had tunnel vision in his 1st couple years...and it just drove me crazy. I think Ronnie still has tunnel vision but his tunnel vision has improved by leaps and bounds.
And it all came because he finally got confidence.

No ronnie didnt get faster, he got smarter. Not only that but his confidence in the o line and organization has played a big role in his success. Phin Fan, I wouldnt necessarilly say Ronnie CANT lay out line backers but he simplys out runs them and shakes their weak arm tackles.

I think Ronnie's always had good top end speed (4.40 at the combine, sometimes faster). It does seem like he is getting up to top speed quicker in the past year. He's making quick cuts at just the right times and places too ... the "vision" skills and "playing instinctively" like they call it. That comes with experience. He's getting savvier and more creative at picking up those extra yards.

Ronnie really seems to like his job. People that love what they do are always looking for ways to get just 1% better. They're kind of addicted to getting better. Like you see on the miamidolphins.com locker room videos, it's a big adrenaline high when you win those big games.

Players like that are often asking the coaches questions, listening carefully, setting goals about different things, etc. It's like playing a computer game. At first, you're overwhelmed about playing at certain levels (like when you're a rookie). Then after awhile, things kind of slow down and you can play at those high speed, tougher levels. What was once difficult now seems easier and easier. There's more to being a good NFL player than just your physical skills. It's what's between your ears. Everyone in the NFL has pretty good physical skills or they wouldn't be there.
