A lot of us have the kind of mindset that everyone involved with any type of failure should not be made an exception to being held accountable for our failures. Jeff Ireland in many people's eyes has been partially responsible for what has happened to this team in some shape or
form. Do you believe that he has put this franchise in the right direction, and if he hasn't then what must he do to gain your trust as the Miami Dolphins general manager.

I've always been open-minded about him. The curse of GMs is that they are judged on a very small sample size, with many factors affecting whether the outcome is successful or not.

And the sample size is still too small.

It is what it is..There has been ppl who question his picks and they have turned out right and wrong.

All I can do it root for him.

His draft did surpise me a bit. If, and that is an essential "if", the players pan out as they should in the new offense and defense then my opinion of him will change significantly. My real gauge will be how his 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks materialize. He has struggled to hit it on players in these rounds.

We cannot draw any conclucions as of yet for all the players drafted until after at least halfway through the season.. Even training camp and preseason games might be a good indication but too soon for any conclusions...

**** NO! His draft was only a surprise to some in the fact that it didn't totally suck. In 2008 and 2009 we though he had good drafts too. (Yeah, I know the homer mantra...."Those were Parcells' picks". That's a load of crap.) They blew camel ****! His draft last year was poor also....we got a RB that can't stay on the field, a receiver that everyone is happy about that only caught 2...count them 2...passes all year, a utility player, and couple of DBs that everyone is giddy over, even though they showed very little last year. Yeah, Wilson can blitz, but can he do anything else? He isn't going to see the field much; maybe on nickel and that's about it. Jones...everybody thinks he is going to be a great SS, but did he really show much at FS last year? No...he just didn't completely blow like the FS's we've had around here recently. Oh yeah...we got a center in the 1st round...but that was an impact pick!

I've never really had an issue with him.

I didn't have any issue with the Dez Bryant question. He's been proven to be right in asking it, because Bryant
is an immature headache. Albeit a talented one, which everyone knew.

As for the rest of it, I thought our draft was a good one last year, and I like our draft this year.
As for the FA issue, I understand FAs not wanting to come to MIA, in that we haven't proven to
be winners, and I always wonder about players that will take more money, simply to go to
a team that isn't winning. The HC search, I didn't really have any issues with either. We won't
know if he did well or not on that until later anyway.

I still don't have issues with him really.

No one is standing on the sidewalk protesting so I guess those idiots have come to their senses.
Fans only like Ireland now because he did what they wanted which is never the right way to look at things.
I still think all the heat he received was unwarranted as it was presented IMO.

None of us have ever walked in Jeff's shoes, so I cannot condemn the man for things that didn't work out. The Dez Bryant fiasco was a little overblown but I think he is a pretty stand up guy. Drafting players and making trades is not an easy thing. He traded away Marshall and I think while we lost a good WR, it was not worth keeping this head case around. Hopefully drafting Tannehill will move us in the right direction. I also am happy he replaced Sparano with a coach like Philbin.

Hard worker, decent scout, poor social skills with players, mediocre at managing salary cap but signs of getting better in that area.

very well said and true.

My opinion of Ireland is basically dependent on how Tannehill turns out. I think he is a pretty good judge of talent, but its time to put things together. Time to start winning.

Ireland? I recall reading Ross liked Philbin and Ireland liked McCoy. Ross made it be known Ireland has final say on players, but pretty sure Ross has final say on HC...regardless, I think Philbin hire will do more to turn Miami around than any one player.

Meh, we'll see.

Let's just say that I've put my torch and pitchfork down for now.
