Has Jeff Ireland done enough to change your opinion of him at this point?

I never had a problem with Ireland.

I was ok with the Dez Bryant question. I was ok with passing on Flynn. I am ok with the Marshall trade. I prefer building throug the draft, rather than free agency. I like that he drafts high character players.

My only issue with the guy was he never drafted a QB, but that's not an issue anymore.

Ireland? I recall reading Ross liked Philbin and Ireland liked McCoy. Ross made it be known Ireland has final say on players, but pretty sure Ross has final say on HC...regardless, I think Philbin hire will do more to turn Miami around than any one player.

Ireland is still the GM and calling the shots. I think he played just as big a part in hiring Philbin as did Ross. I know the initial reports were that Jeff Fisher wouldn't take the job because Ireland was still there calling the shots. If Ross didn't have a high opinion of Ireland, and his hiring decisions, Ireland would have been booted out the door by now. Regardless of who made the final decision, we now have the former Green Bay OC running things and moving to a West coast offense.

How do you know that Ireland is calling the shots? You THINK he's calling the shots. He might be or he might not be.
I have no doubt that Ross will do what he wants, when he wants in terms of matters on the team. That fact is that
who has made what decision is pure speculation, but Ireland is going to wind up with the credit/blame on all of the moves.

The only thing I hold against/for Ireland is post Parcells, because I do not thing an egomaniacal guy like Parcells is NOT
going to call the shots.

I have never held him responsible, he was the made-ready scape goat, it was always parcells! The regime changed and all fell to him.....think about it!

I don't know who liked who, but it's obvious philbin was going to be a head coach somewhere this season, Mike? well he's still with the broncos.

I've always thought he had an eye for talent especially on defense. But now he is starting to show that he could seek out offensive talent. The Daniel Thomas pick has year I think will pan out great for us. Overall I think that he will end up building a good team for us. I hope so....

There is no way that he had anything to do with the first drafts, he's only been in charge the last 2 and I like what he's done.
All the bad PR came from the pundits, most of it was speculation not reporting.
He's picked players that fit Sporano's system and now Philbin's.
Two very different drafts, last year rookies didn't have TC so they should be better prepared this coming season.
Until I see the product on the field I will not pass judgement.
I liked he took a chance with the 8th pick.

Bill Polian gets a pass for the one great pick he made in Peyton Manning. Looking how bad the team was without him, goes to show that he was more hype than good.

I never really jumped on that "Fireland" bandwagon. Ireland's made some pretty good moves for his first 4,5 years at GM. He's shrewd. He can use some better people skills but hey, I like that hard-azz approach to my GM. Whether in Miami or not, I think Ireland will continue to have a successful career in the NFL. But hey, what do I know? Lol

Yeah, that's what I read as well.

I never had any issues with Ireland. Ross is the guy I REALLY could do without.

ALL of the negativity in the press was caused by quotes attributed to Ross. Ireland never said a word about our QB, or about Manning or Flynn.

Ireland is a PROFESSIONAL GM, that means he doesn't say squat about what he is trying to do unless there is something to be gained or until AFTER he has already gotten what he was after.

The same people posting about how great the draft is will post the complete opposite as soon as armando or hyde or the caped typo bandit post some shallow negative article.

A lot of us have the kind of mindset that everyone involved with any type of failure should not be made an exception to being held accountable for our failures. Jeff Ireland in many people's eyes has been partially responsible for what has happened to this team in some shape or
form. Do you believe that he has put this franchise in the right direction, and if he hasn't then what must he do to gain your trust as the Miami Dolphins general manager.

i'll tell ya after this season

Why? Because everyone 'feels' good about the draft..? I'm sure if you polled most of the fanbases around the league they ALL feel good... it is what the draft does, it gives hope... Every year the same thing... Optimism for the sake of it, when the reality is NOTHING has changed... until this class takes some snaps...

I will go even further to say that I will not give Ireland credit for Tannehill... Conversely nor will I lynch him for it. I'm serious. Our QB situation was SO ABYSMAL... Tannehill was a 'no brainer' the MOST OBVIOUS choice even at 8... This was not a bold move... This was not Ireland putting his butt on the line or proving he actually VALUES the position... Look at all the good will generated around here by the selection... it was the popular choice, it was the smart choice but most of all it was the OBVIOUS choice. It was Ireland moving to FIX the mess that he CREATED... The fact that Tannehill was there for the taking is little more than timing.

Listen I love the pick and i can't wait to see how the kid pans out but I'm not going to call Ireland a genius simply because he managed to change the sheets he pi**ed in. Especially BEFORE he or any of the other picks have even taken a snap.
