manchurian-candidate Noun
(plural Manchurian candidates)
A person that has unknowingly been convinced to act toward some interest.

If you think about it, he's gotten rid of Dawn Apponte and Dennis Hickey - 2 independent thinking football executives, and replaced Hickey with, like himself, a career mediocrity who was in no demand outside of a Ross-led organization, to rubber-stamp his decisions.

Who has Ross's ear and the capability of influencing him on football matters aside from the T-Bum? We know he's manipulative. Heaven knows how much brainwashing he's subjected our clueless owner to.

Now you might cite Tom Garfinkle as most influential because on paper, as the President and CEO of The Fins and The Hard Rock Stadium, he's Tannenbum's boss. But if you think about it, he's a high level baseball guy with the Padres and Diamondbacks after forging a career in brand management with no prior football connections. He's also an MBA from U of Mich Ross School of Business - so there are his qualifications. Ain't that convenient?

I for one am concerned that the franchise has tumbled into a rabbit hole so deep, from which it will be impossible to dig itself out in the foreseeable future. Only in RossWorld can a failed GM go from almost happily being demoted to Capologist, to being unhireable in the league and into sports management, to getting a de facto promotion and holding sway over the Billionaire owner.

another Tannnebaum thread:rolleyes2: damn that man for turning winners into losers. I can't believe he was allowed to ruin the greatness of the 2000s Miami Dolphins.

Tannenbaum has turned a bad organization into one of the worst ones

Much like Ireland before him I just picture Tannenbaum as Wormtongue from the Lord of the Rings.

As for nyjunc comment - If you were a fan of the Jets, Yankees, and Nets, I can see how Tannenbaum's moves may seem logical, and possibly even preferable to those organizations. Outside of maybe the Yankees philosophical shift mid-season, as a Red Sox game it was discouraging to see that they may finally understand the correct way to build a team.

it's comical in a sad way. You guys have been awful basically this entire century and a man that has been here for a year and a half is getting all the blame on here.

This is one aspect or org management that baffles me. People hiring their "connections" is not a great strategy. There is always better talent than who you have already worked with. Ross, hired a fellow Jets reject. I have nothing against Garfinkle, but connecting the dots, looks like the most important achievement on his resume is where he got his MBA..

While we still need to give the QB "time".

I get the disdain for Tannenbaum, but you can't have 2 drafts/offseasons in 2013 and 2014 (prior to his arrival) and come out of them with a slot WR and a left tackle that has missed more games than he's played. That will kill your team for years.

2013 we tried to replace the entire defense in one offseason.

Ellerbe, Wheeler, Jenkins, Davis, Taylor, Jordan, Grimes off injury and on offense adding Wallace, Gibson, Keller, Thomas and Sims.

When the only positive thing to come out of that is a second team TE and Grimes at the expense of Miko . . . You are gonna fail eventually. Then throw in 2014 which is a train wreck as well . . . But lets not do that since many of Tannenbaum's biggest bashers were Hickey nut huggers but that seems to be forgotten.

Please, this team was on a path to hit rock bottom before Tannenbaum stepped in . . . He may put the final nail in the coffin but it was headed that way regardless unless the QB became a special player, which he has not.

Absolutely agree that it's not solely Tannenbaum but he's not the solution either. This mess starts with Ross and includes Parcells, Ireland, Philbin and Gase as well as Tannenbaum.

Whatever it is that's going on, I knew Miami was making a mistake by getting rid of Dennis Hickey. He was a football guy that Tannenbaum needed out.

The bottom line is Miami will not compete under this ownership. They'll only be able to lure coaches looking for their first shot a head coaching job to come participate in this insanity....and free agents only looking for nice weather and to steal a paycheck. It's been that way for a while.

Honestly, if they all weren't so incompetent, they'd just quit. They can't even see how truly inept they are. If any of them from Ross on down had an ounce of dignity, they'd quit. That's the truth. They'd spare long suffering Dolphin faithful all of this.

imo ireland drove this team into the ground. Tennendumb will just bury what's left of it

Ozzy rules!!
