manchurian-candidate Noun
(plural Manchurian candidates)
A person that has unknowingly been convinced to act toward some interest.
If you think about it, he's gotten rid of Dawn Apponte and Dennis Hickey - 2 independent thinking football executives, and replaced Hickey with, like himself, a career mediocrity who was in no demand outside of a Ross-led organization, to rubber-stamp his decisions.
Who has Ross's ear and the capability of influencing him on football matters aside from the T-Bum? We know he's manipulative. Heaven knows how much brainwashing he's subjected our clueless owner to.
Now you might cite Tom Garfinkle as most influential because on paper, as the President and CEO of The Fins and The Hard Rock Stadium, he's Tannenbum's boss. But if you think about it, he's a high level baseball guy with the Padres and Diamondbacks after forging a career in brand management with no prior football connections. He's also an MBA from U of Mich Ross School of Business - so there are his qualifications. Ain't that convenient?
I for one am concerned that the franchise has tumbled into a rabbit hole so deep, from which it will be impossible to dig itself out in the foreseeable future. Only in RossWorld can a failed GM go from almost happily being demoted to Capologist, to being unhireable in the league and into sports management, to getting a de facto promotion and holding sway over the Billionaire owner.
