I cant help but be turned off and tuned out to all the false reporting that has been done with regards to this GM/OC search... Particularly Salgueiro. I have always read fan comments about him in this site but paid no attention to it. I could not help but notice in this situation his desperate articles/blogs, he lost me as a reader and wont be following him any longer. Its hard to find a local guy who is objective and keeps the news void of speculation and biased opinions. We all know the team and organization is a total disaster but the reporting that has gone on has piled on with information that can or cant be true (salgueiro reference). I feel that some of the anger i had towards Ross and the Dolphins has shifted over to those people covering the team.

Feel free to mention any of the local guys who have or have not covered this story professionally
 
Don't you first have to have credibility before you can lose it? :chuckle: I would know... ;-)

I'm not sure why, but this always happens with anything important that has to do with the Fins. The media is all over the place. Unacceptable!!
 
Same situation as my first season on this board. I didn't understand all the hate until around Bullygate. Left room for doubt all off season as I thought maybe they were objective. But when every article is negative or a positive with sprinkles of negativity, the trend is easy to see. I stayed away from the news during this whole search because every report originated out of Armando and it was wrong 100% of the time until someone else reported the truth.
 
The media seeks sensationalism over truth with contract bonuses determined by clicks, "likes" and Twatter retwats. Rumors and supposed leaked sources also create more "traffic" for sites and advertisers. ESPN has become the sports equivalent of TMZ. It's no longer journalism and there isn't much credibility left in the field, period.
 
yeah, we got nothing. the best thing to do is take everything you read as it's happening with a grain of salt. everybody wants to be first, everybody wants to break a story, everybody has an agenda, everybody wants clicks, views, sales, page views. after it's over you have a better chance of piecing together the story.
 
Do all sportswriters publish a picture of themselves 20 years ago next to their articles?
 
Well to attack the so called credibility of the media we would have to know what was actually true and false. Unless we were in the room we really don't know.
I have seen people attack the media yet cite that Hickey hit it out of the park in an interview. Im pretty sure this story was found out by yes the media. People believe what makes them sleep better at night or worse.
We all have opinions on things that happen and most of it is based on accounts we hear and what we choose to believe. Look how strongly people felt on both sides about the Martin trial. No one was there there is no definitive proof exactly what happened but a side is chosen based on what we believe
 
I unfollowed Salgueiro on twitter, rather get my info from a credible and professional source or just wait till the facts come out.

Please, the medias reputation is worse than our President, congress and lawyers. It doesn't get much lower than that.

So how do we know what was true or not. MY point is we don't. Definitely cannot believe reports out of the organization when our owner can't even tell the truth about his pursuit of Jim Harbaugh.

I understood your point. But I'm sorry I believe the Dolphins over the media. I've explained why.

I respect street walkers more than most of the so called media.
 
what's worse, is the fans that buy into the first thing they read. thinking everything on the internet is true.
 
The script is always the same. LaCanforaBeasleySalgueroKellyFlorio(add others) - Miami Dolphins stoop to a new low... Bumbling billionaire owner will never make a good decision.... Loser Head Coach who only got the job because bumbling billionaire couldn't entice supercoach Jeff Fisher... Evil Dawn Aponte is secretly the czarina/attorney/bean counter who has the bumbling billionaire on speed dial... Good candidates are turned away or reject GM role because they insist on firing loser Head Coach and want control of player roster... Bumbling billionaire messes up again... Dolphins offer GM role to worst candidate... Once proud franchise stoops to new low...
