IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, THE TEAM DOCTORS SAW SOMETHING IN BREES SHOULDER THEY DIDN'T LIKE. WHAT DID THEY SEE IN DANTE'S KNEE THAT MADE THEM THINK HE WOULD HEAL FASTER THAN HE HAS? WE COULD HAVE HAD BREES AND THAT MAKES IT ALL THAT MUCH WORSE. WE JUST NEED TO HOPE THAT IT ALL PANS OUT LIKE ST. NICK THOUGHT AND DANTE GET ITS TOGETHER. I KNOW ITS EARLY BUT BREES IS GETTING THE JOB DONE SO FAR. HE HASN'T BEEN GREAT BUT HE HAS BEEN VERY GOOD.

I didn't read your post because of the caps, but I am a little down about this Brees/ Culpepper thing. Initially I wanted Brees, but as the off-season went on, I convinced myself Culpepper was the better QB. I guess I was a bit of a homer on that subject.

I don't think it was that DC's knee would heel faster. I think they went with a knee injury over a shoulder injury in a QB. Made sense at the time, not anymore.

Any team would pick a qb with a knee injury over a qb with an injury to his throwing shoulder.

Perhaps in this case they should have looked more into it. I agreed with it at the time, but now I just wish Saban had ponied up the cash and just dumped it on Brees' lawn. I'm not saying Daunte can't get back, but as of now, we made a huge mistake.

How closer could they look into it, they did as much as they could and who knows maybe Brees shoulder will let up as the season goes on.

I really don't have any suggestions. I'm just saying they should've saw whatever it is that we are seeing now. I don't think we were told the correct story. I believe Saban just didn't want to dish out the dough and it's really killing us. Brees was a for sure thing who would've been a pro-bowl type QB for 4 or 5 years. Culpepper was hit or miss, and right now, we are down 0-2 in the count. (Baseball analogy.)

I support Culpepper to the fullest but I saw a differnt team when Joey was on the field. The biggest differnece was the sacks and shots down the field. Pep hung on to the ball too long and didn't make quick good decisions like Joey did. Joey didn't play great, but the offense moved the ball much better with him.

Considering the fact that almost every player acquired recently has been injured in some way, I find it funny that Brees was not given a clear bill..

Bottom Line

Brees is a much smarter QB. I wanted him from the start and really tried to embrace the C'Pepper move. A friend who is a huge Viking fan said it was a mistake to get CPep, because basically without a burner like Moss CPep dosent have much. He's RIGHT. Yeah he's slowed up with the knee injury, but he never was a "smart" QB. HE broke the hearts of Viking fans with hiis untimely interceptions and fumbles on too many occasions. I'd rather have Harrington in there any day, hell I'd rather have Cleo Lemon in there, the guy looked awesome in preseason. Sorry Daunte, get used to warming the bench.

Brees is without a doubt the smarter QB of the two which is part of why one is doing so well over the other. He dosen't make mistakes with the football an we should have given the money to get him. I really do hope though that Dante can turn it around for the sake of the team but we definately made a mistake in not taking Brees over Culpepper.

Its not just you, I think a lot of the people on the board were spouting Daunte's praise after they heard we picked him over brees. At first people where pissed then the whole B.S. Culpeper Manifesto came out to try and ease the pain of not getting a legit QB. Its looking like NO spent their money well without having to give up a draft pick to get him.

Folks; Culpepper and Brees have put up similar stats up through week 4. Obviously now that Harrington's starting, that comparison doesn't apply anymore.

The Saints are winning because they're working as a team, not because they have Drew Brees. We're not losing because we're not working as a team, not because we have Daunte Culpepper.

That's obvious. We almost all wanted Brees and most of us embraced Pep. Can't go back so lets get Daunte to 100%, get him some O-line help and see what we got. You would have to put Brees behing our O-line to truly know!

dude...it was not about the injuries, it was about the ammount of money breese was asking for and the fact that the saints gave it to him.

Chris Chambers is just as capable of stretching the field as Randy Moss is.

It's almost as if we just made ourselfs believe just because he was a Dolphin. I think it's interesting, imagine it as if the Jets or Bills had gotten him. I wonder what we would've been saying then.

Brees is completely outplaying Daunte and if you can't see that than you are just suffering from homeritis. Look, I support Daunte to the fullest, but at this point, Brees is a pro-bowler and Daunte is a backup. I still think Daunte gets turned around and by next year will be our QB of the future, but as for this season, we wasted it on an experiment.
