Just wondering how the Fins preseason is going. We in KC land have been very happy with the play of Patrick Surtain and "Sergeant" Sammy Knight. How is the D coping with the loss of those two players, and have they been easy to replace?

Good luck on a great season...Bet your excited to see Ronnie Brown run.

you think you have something in knight and surtain? just wait til the games matter lol. i won't deny they are better than what we have, but that ain't sayin' a whole lot.

Surtain will definitely be missed. He's a top 3 corner, touch to replace. Sammy will not be missed as much.
Our starting defense will be very good, maybe better than the past few years. But Patrick will be missed for sure. Original Dolphin, many ProBowls, well liked in Miami...

Surtain yes Knight no...The 1st D had played well but we needed more speed at safety and couldnt afford Surtain. I hope they play well for ya tho.

I think everybody who is a dolphin is gonna miss and or is missing him. The majority of the people are missing surtain more than knight, and thecoordinator is right wait till the game is on the line and see how much we will surtain.

Defense isn't the biggest worry atm, they havn't given up much the last two games. Glad to hear you appreciate them, Surtain is a special player and I wish him well. Good luck with your season.

Our Defensive backfield has stepped up more last 2 games. I dont think we will miss Knight if Schulters comes thru and there is no reason why he wont. We will have to take up the slack with Surtain going to you guys. Hows he been looking in pre season? You got a decent LB yet cos weve got a player called Crowder who's a steal. ;)

we do miss surtain he was my fav player, but trust me we dont miss knight he is way too slow we have 2 safteys that are better than him. although i think kc will do really good this year 12-4 at worst

Surtain will be a great pick up for the Chiefs. He shut down many receivers last year so he should be able to do the same this yr. Knight will not be spectacular but will fill in nicely until you get a better safety. Knight is one of those that you don't hate to have on your team but you are not thrilled to have on your team.

I miss Surtain no doubt. He will lock down half of the field...you guys will love him even more as the season goes on...and he is one of the best shut down corners in this league.

Go Fins!!!

well, just as everyone else has said....We miss Surtain or will during the season.

While we can make up for Knight with the guys we currently have, I feel that he'll help KC tremendously. He'll bring more skill and leadership to the KC secondary...something you likely haven't had from the S postition in a while (sorry but I'm not all that familiar with the past starters for KC's secondary).

The losses of both guys from the 'fins were mostly about money, Surtain especially, than about skill.

good luck with your season as well...well, unless we play eachother. :)

Our D has been hanging in there...they're actually still doing pretty good and keeping us in the games...

Do we miss Surtain? Definetly, there's no doubt about it. He will be missed for years to come, espescially this year with Poole out for the season...fortunetly it seems like we may have found a diamond in the rough with Travis Daniels....but even that remains to be seen.

Do we miss Knight? No. Sammy was a HARD hitter, but he's no faster than the guys you had previously in the Kansas City backfield. Knight can be easily replaced, but Surtain is a different story.

If I could take back the Patrick Surtain trade right now, I think I would. Despite the excitement of drafting Matt Roth, I would still take Surtain back. Especially with the way Roth has been playing, he hasn't really been what we expected him to be, but it is an unfair assumption as he's only played 3 NFL games (pre-season games).

Sounds a little bitter to me...

They do have something in Surtain...a true shutdown corner..he will make KC's secondary better and we will miss him.

Knight...ehh...he's a bit slow...especially in coverage....not too big of a deal.

He does have a point though.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Surtain, one of my favorites on this team. BUT this entire defensive core we've had in Miami for a few years isn't exactly clutch. Maybe it was the vanilla defense that Bates/Wanny refused to compromise, but there's no denying that when big situations arose, our "Great" Defense was nowhere to be found.

We could never get the big stop. I realize you can't put all this on one or two players, but Surtain was a vital part of that nucleus.
