for a few reasons.

1) People have to respect his ability to run/scramble. He can make plays with his feet unlike Feeley, and Gus.

2) Teams will respect the pass more with Culpepper back there. Meaning they wont beable to blitz as much. Plus he can scramble away from the blitz which gives time for our recievers to get open and will probally be in single coverage.

3) Culpepper made some average O-lineman into ProBowlers in Minnesota!!

If we would have signed Brees upgrading the O-Line would have been a bigger prioriety. Dont get me wrong I would still like to see us get a guard, but its not a huge deal like it would have been if Brees was our guy.

Yeah that is true, but it all depends on how healthy he is. He may not be able to scramble as much as before the injury. Hopefully he will be fine!

True, But he isnt going to be out there unless his knee is ready. Saban will push him to be ready by the start of the season. But Saban is smart enough not to rush him back.

y does every1 talk about our o-line????didnt it give up the fewest sacks in the nfl last year???????????

I agree, like...he will make the Oline better....but its already young, and going to get better

Yeah they did. But that was because Gus had to throw the ball way so much. Which is why we were last in the league in completion percentage.

no.. i disagree...gus trew it away so much cuz gus is mediocre and didnt have what it took...

I disagree with that 100% watch a game from 04' and then '05 you will see Feeley taking the sacks, and Gus threw it away.

And yes Gus didnt have what it took. But he did a good job of not taking sacks. Probally his best quality.

because our coaches told ferotte to throw the ball away as soon as he feels pressure
hence less sacks

You know, dont discredit Gus he was a shifty type of mobile QB. He did avoid alot of sacks. True he was still inaccuarate at times, but by watching him he avoided a good 10 sacks, and made plays on about 3 of em. Dont think he had an interception by avoiding one either, sure Daunte is an upgrade but gus was not too bad, he was did what was asked of him by staying on a positive TD/INT ratio and avoiding bad sacks.
