Positives
- Offense was 4-5 in the Red Zone.
- 7-18 the offense was on 3rd down.
- Averaged 4.7 per rush
- 343 to 185 in total yards
- Won Time of Possession 36:38 to 23:22
- Brock Osweiler. He was excellent. 16-25 for 147 yards and 2 TD’s. His QBR was 106.6. He was in command and made some good throws in clutch spots. He was consistent all game.
- Kalen Ballage returned strong. 24 yards on 4 carries and a TD. He caught 3 balls for 37 yards. He had a summer that showed he belonged.
- Buddy Howell was productive again as a receiver: 26 yards on 3 catches and a TD.
- Brandon Radcliff had 53 yards on 14 carries
- Isaiah Ford 43 yards on 4 receptions.
- Francis Owusu with a TD catch.
- The defense held the hapless Falcons to 3-15 on 3rd down.
- The defense was ready and forced a punt after a sudden change.
- Torry McTyer with a PD which was intercepted by Stephone Anthony.
- Jonathan Woodard sack.
- Jordan Lucas had a sack, pick and 2TFL’s.
- Jason Sanders from 56 yards with lots of room to spare.
- Going for it on 4th down on the opening drive.
- I do not have to deal with Game Pass until next year. The service needs improvement and is too expensive. Now it is on to Directv and their respective issues.
- Even with Turnover Differential.
- David Fales missing a wide open receiver on a wheel route.
- Fales bad luck interception.
- Zach Sterup gave up an easy sack.
- Eric Smith holding call.
- Sanders missing well short (might have been tipped) from 51.
- Drew Morgan muffed punt.
- Terrible call on Atlanta for a roughing the passer call on Fales.
- Bad look not having the entire team travel. Work as a team.
- Brock Osweiler should be the backup QB. He has experience. He has had some success in the league. I am still convinced Adam Gase wants to make Osweiler legit in order to stick it to Denver. That said, David Fales is simply not an NFL QB. He gives effort, but really, what has he done and what does he have in terms of potential to get a roster spot? Osweiler has the best chance to keep a team afloat to finish a game or start a game or two if something happened to Ryan Tannehill. Anything more than that the team is done and we are asking when Path to the Draft starts.
- Jason Sanders will be the kicker to start the year. However, I do not trust this situation and want to see what is around after cuts this weekend.
- If I am the Fins I am at least looking for a LB to help with some depth. Baker, McMillian, Alonso and Allen are locked in. I think Anthony gets cut. Hull is banged up. Poling is not ready. Garvin could stick, but another LB that could help on special teams is needed. Scouts need to step up here. The unit is far too thin at this point.
- Good to see the 2nd and 3rd defense bounce back after a lousy performance last week.
- I would like to see Buddy Howell make it to the practice squad. Very productive and hard running back.
- Speaking of RB’s. The work that Eric Studesville has done with the RB group is off the charts. He is an excellent coach...one that deserves a head coaching look. Miami’s backs will be productive as long as he is on staff.
- Cameron Malveaux and Woodard are likely not on the 53 man roster this weekend, but they have great body types and have potential. I would be great to get them through waivers, but I would not be shocked if they are snagged. Lots of potential with them.
- Time to have the cell phone handy starting Friday into Saturday to watch the cuts come in around the league while at the same time watching some good college football games. Football is back in a big way. Fins up!
