He heard ya. Ya know who you are. The Penny haters.

"What I am always looking to do is to add different things to my game. To try and get better at the deeper throws and be more consistent throwing the ball down the field. Chad (Henne) and I have worked extremely hard these last two and a half months to increase our accuracy and get our footwork where it needs to be to be more accurate. It's nice to see when that comes to fruition during practice when you are going against the defense."

I love that he was working with Henne while you were posting on FH. Yes, you, you over there. While your fingers were stroking the keys his fingers were throwing the long ball with Chad H. Maybe he did not wander these pages but he felt the hate. The hate drove him. The doubters drove him. So did the love. And now watch out. Year 2.

"This is the second year in a row that I have been able to sit down and develop an 11 month plan and right now I am hitting phase two of the plan. It's nice to be able to not have to go through an offseason with surgery. To be able to go into a season and then an offseason healthy where you can concentrate on getting better as an athlete and your time and energy is not spent trying to get well. You are already out on the field, now you are trying to hone in on your skills. That's really important. It is four years after my second surgery and I keep taking steps to where I want to be as a quarterback."

Maybe the best story in the 2009 will be the continuation of the great story of 2008. Where even the Jests fans will admit he is the real deal. We can hope. We will see.

penny looked pretty jacked in the recent interview, time will tell if any of that translates to arm strength.

From Omar's OTA Roundup:
"Speaking of Ginn, he caught a beautiful touchdown pass from Chad Pennington during the 7-on-7 portion practice. It was a perfect over the shoulder throw into the corner of the end zone. Ginn beat Eric Green on the play. Pennington showed off his fresh arm to zip the pass in while Green was chasing Ginn."

Let's hope it stays fresh. Where did I put my Tupperware....?

i can't imagine any Dolphin fan HATING Pennington.

You'd hardly know he took us to 11-5 last season on some posts. Put in Henne, can't win deep into the playoffs with Penny. Penny's gonna get hurt this year again. I admit, all these may be true. Some of the pain I think comes from Jests posters who have been disappointed by teams he led.

I believe he is the Dolphins starting QB until he is deposed and I am jacked that not only is Penny getting better but he's making Henne better and now Pat White will be Penny-fied. If I had my druthers (and what are druthers anyway?) Penny would flow from the starting role to the Don Strock veteran backup QB chair (probably after he gets hurt-as older guys eventually do-and Henne steps in and powers us to wins) to the assistant QB coach to move up when David Lee moves on. I still vividly remember how the Dolphins offense changed when he became part of the organization. Rare you find someone who not only improves themselves but also improves everyone else around them. Not like I'm gonna name a kid Chad or anything, but he's one of my favorite Dolphins, for sure.

As great a player as Marino was, did he mentor young QBs like Chad P does?

And yeah, you were right, too much stroking in the original post, edited.

Yeah, I love this guy, i cant stand the fans who cant wait for Pennington to get injured just to get a look at Henne(What if he is a bust? What then, just throw away the season?)

Don't get me wrong, the articles talking about Henne's offseason and how Chad H looks better in OTAs got me going too. Finally now, I think the Dolphin QB situation is going in the right direction both short and long-term. Haven't felt that since Marino.

Every off-season we hear how Chad Pennington is working on his arm strength and his mechanics so he can get more zip on his throws. We hear how healthy he is and how his passes have more velocity than ever. Then the season starts and you see that he still has that pop gun for an arm that he has always had. He is going to be 33 years old and he is going into his 10th season. Do you really believe, all of a sudden, he is going to develop a cannon for an arm? Pennington is what he is. He is a smart guy who can manage a game and who is always going to be limited because he will always have below average arm strength by NFL standards. He will only be able to take a team so far because of those limitations. Why do you think that the Jets were and Dolphins are trying to upgrade the position?

i love penny, love what he did for us... but i can recognize how he limits our offense... i dont think anyone hates the guy, but some may be more realistic than others... he needs larger windows to throw the ball... his "zipping the ball in" is much slower than Henne's zipping the ball in, meaning a defender has an easier chance to break it up, meaning he wont make that throw unless the defender is far enough away...

doesn't take away from his success with us, or how much hes helped our team, but he limits an offense with his arm strength... its not hating, its just a fact... he cant zip in a 15 yard out to the sidelines... he can time it and loft one and it will work often, but if its his say 2nd read and he doesn't have that time to get it there, he wont throw it... maybe he'll dump it off, etc... but his arm strength wont let him do those things... doesn't make him a bad QB, it just means it limits the potential of our offense... doesn't mean anyone else can do better than him, but the POTENTIAL to open up our offense would be higher with someone with a better arm...

Ok, I'm not comparing Chad to Joe Montana but all this talk about arm strength and it limiting how far he can take us?????? Did Joe have a cannon for an arm? NO! He was accurate and smart, AND had a good team around him. I see no reason Chad couldn't lead us all the way if we had all the pieces.

Maybe he doesn't feel any hate at all and it's the thought of those interceptions that ended the season making him work harder on his deep ball.

who said limiting how far he can take us? i said limiting our offense... is it so hard to admit our QB can not make all the throws? why do people take that as blasphemy? its a fact his arm isn't as strong as some other players... does that make him bad? NO... does that mean we cant win with him? NO... but its a fact...

now having a strong arm doesn't make you good at all... BUT if your a smart QB who makes good decisions and you have a strong arm, you bring a greater POTENTIAL to an offense because you can make the throws... now will every QB bring that team to that potential? NO because they can be lacking in other areas...

so if you could have our same Chad P. just with Jamarcus Russell's arm, wouldn't you say hed be an even better QB and do better things with our offense? of course... so why is it so bad to say hes limits our offense with his weak arm?
