cam wake rich eisen transcript - this is all PARAPHRASE, i can't type fast enough to quote him.
Intro spot - safety against dalton on halloween radio call in Miami- which was the last time Rich talked to Wake
Rich: fresh off 4 sack performance - how are u?
Cam: doing good u?
Rich: what a night that was with the safety on halloween
Cam: hell of a night - and it was getting late - we were glad to get it over with
Rich: Whats the difference between first 4 games and last game?
Cam: Been a crazy past 2 weeks, just the guys going and playing together and consistent - complimentary football - we were'nt playing complimentary football before. The last game we actually ended up playing the way we expected from beginning
Rich: what about scheme changes?
cam: not too much - just old school beat the man in front of you and worry about the way we were doing things, not them - win one on one - win the down and move on- it's not about the scheme, about the guys that are playing that call. We had alot of enthusiasm - the past game was not a fluke its who we've always been
Rich : media has been saying the players were not feeling the scheme - is it fair to say that?
Cam: its overblown - its not like coach coyle was out there missing tackles and sacks. we are the players. i have alot of respect for him but we have to move on - it's on the players.
Rich: what about OV hit - "BS football" by Ken W.?
Cam: Being a guy who is around QBs alot, it's very difficult to hit QBs with all the rules, cant hit low, late, etc. I know OV well, the player and person, and there is none of that dirty or intentional stuff to his game. We play hard and try to get to the QB
Rich: If you could change rule with a magic wand what would it be?
Cam: i need more than one wand - right now i just try to play by rules, but defensive players are also defenseless at times, our health, families, etc are just as important as QBs, yet those same considerations are not out there for us - so I would make rules same for all players, to keep all safe.
Rich: how's is been with Suh?
Cam: its great- the day he signed we spent time together. Weve been two guys together, playing side by side. it's a great fit and hes a great player and better person
Rich: biggest misconception about suh?
Cam: it's hard to know what others think, i make my own opinion - i met him before, I thought he's a tremendous player, determined, very professional, anything that's contrary to that is coming from those that don't know what they are talking about.
Rich: what was it like to find coach Philbin is out and TE coach Dan is in?
Cam: That was quite a week - traveling across ocean to play in London, lose, come back, 9-10 hour flight, had to come to work next day. going into bye week, we had plans for the bye (injury rehab for me). With Philbin we've been through alot of battles, lots of respect for him, great guy, but powers that be made a move and the guys came together. The team determines how we are, not media or tweeters, none of that matters, guys have done a great job putting energy together, good things happened.
Rich: Any of the players talking about Dan Campbell as permanent coach?
cam: That's above my pay grade -but since i've been around him, seeing the way he coaches why not - great motivator - has wisdom and perspective as player and as a coach. Being able to use that is something alot of guys can respect - again why not.
Rich: what does scout team trophy look like?
cam: been awhile since i've seen one - you'd have to research.
Rich: is it a participation trophy?
cam: you gotta ask someone more involved on scout team - i can't give you details
rich thanks for coming blah blah
