Heat, Humidity, December Miami Advantage?

Our home field advantage is in September and October.

The weather is beautiful this time of year and opposing teams always enjoy it. There's no advantage for Miami.

Of course they love getting out of the cold but its been scientifically proven that your body acclimates to your local environment and whether they enjoy it or not the humidity this time of the year will be a shock to the system. There is even anecdotal evidence in this very thread that players from years ago hated playing in the Miami heat and humidity, though I imagine they are talking about January playoff games vs Shula and Marino when the phenomenon would be even more pronounced.

Yes, it's a different month. Let's put it this way, if you lived in Buffalo, and someone said, let's fly to Hawaii,.. and you went, would you feel tired and non-acclimated, or would you feel warmed up, your muscles responding better, and a spring in your step? It's the same thing, here. Around this time of year the weather is as nice as any other vacation destination. The humidity drops, there's a breeze, and the sun is not as strong.

I know what you're saying and this is the reason I travel to the Caribbean every year to escape the Canadian winter but going to Hawaii to lay in a lounger all day is not the same as running into/away from 300 pounders for 3 hours. Also, it'll affect some players more than others, it won't affect Brady or other skill players much but it will affect the bigger guys, imo.

If the Dolphins jam the Patriots receivers and pound Tom Brady and we run Daniel Thomas, we should win this game at home.

The Dolphins are a younger and stronger team and they now have to start taking ownership at home.

I ran DII track in ND in college. My family would always take a vacation during Christmas break to Cocoa Beach to visit my dad's side of the family. While there I always continued my track workouts and I can tell you from experience that the change in climate dramatically affected my recover time for the first couple of days. After that your body gets used to the heat and humidity and its no big deal. The heat and humidity could definitely be a factor to players whose body hasnt had the time or workouts to adjust..

Obviously those who have said it is no advantage have never been acclimated to winter weather and then sent to work in warm weather. It's physically draining and I tended to dehydrate faster as my body worked harder to cool itself. Granted I dealt with larger temperature swings then the Pats will face, but I still think its an advantage.

80 degrees and humid is a CLEAR advantage this time of year. Dude it has been in the 20's here in NE for the past month or so. Infact it was 17 degrees this mornign with the wind chill of 7 degrees. BIG difference when it comes to running and breathing.

I agree, I would die if I had to got do stuff outside in 80 degrees with high humidity. I would be sweating like crazy. It will make a big difference.
