Heat Tough Act to Follow

He makes some strong arguments for getting excited about this roster. :)

Do you see the comparisons to the Dolphins and Heat right now? Both team oriented with team orientend stars. Shaq took less money. Ricky is on the team knowing he might not be the feature back. Everyone accepts the Eddie Jones trade and everyone accepts Ricky coming back. Only downsides are Damon Jones and Ronnie Brown holding out(for different but similiar reasons).

We still need guards. We've got Williams and Wade on the roster and that's about it. There's no depth in the backcourt yet.

We've still got our excemption. So we'll add another good player.

A Couple Of Things.... Please Do Not Compare Williams And Shaq... Pplleeeeaassee Dont Do That... And Not Everybody Has Accepted Ricky Back.. Including Me.... Lets See... Shaq Is Slefless And Forfits 25 Million In Order To Win A Championship = Ricky Screws Over His Team In The Biggest Panzy Move In The History Of Football.... Yea I See These Guys As Be Comparable.... Ricky Is A Joke... And I Love The Miami Dolphins... As Long As Were Doing Comparisons, Lets Hope Ronnie Browns Turns Into A Dwayne Wade Of The Miami Dolphins...

The Heat are WORSE now than they were last season. Walker and Williams are not winning players, they will hinder more than help. They are selfish players and i am shocked Miami would make such a boneheaded trade.

ya pal what the hell have the knicks done lately to help that roster

i'm a Net fan and we went to the Finals twice in recent years and it looks like we have a better team than we had then.

There's a thing called team culture and that's what Riles is betting on...that the Heat team/oirganizational culture will rub off the right way on Williams and Walker. They'd be incredibly stupid not to make the effort to blend in with their team mates. They know they've got the best chance they've ever had to win a title...so don't underestimate it. In the right system (like Detroit did with Sheed) a player can turn his game around.

Rasheed is a top player, Walker & Williams are not and Rasheed might have bena technical machine but he was loved by his teammates whereas the other 2 have been despised. it's a HUGE gamble, I don't think you had to take such a risk to get better and win the East. this is a VERY risky move.

jeez... where is the risk??? unless walker puts poison in shaq food to make him shrink 2 feet... I am not worried.... 90 percent of the Heat was Shaq/Wade... why not throw some players with immense talent into the mix... We kept the two best players in the NBA and added some guys who can play as well... walker and williams would need some magic to effect the Shaq/Wade combo...

But seriosuly, I am glad we have a nets fan worried about our team, because I for one am not... that seems a little odd..

Where sis the risk? Do you follow NBA basketball? The mavs certainly had a more talented team than Miami does now in 2004 and Antoine helped them lose 4-1 in the 1st rd a year before Dal went to the Conf Finals(soundfamiliar?) and a year after they made the 2nd rd. The ONLY year since the Mavs reappeared in the playoffs in 2001 that dallas did not at least make the 2nd rd was the year Antoine was there. Still don't see the risk? Jason Williams was dealt from sac and all of a sudden they go to the conf finals. These are not winning players, they are selfish players. Do they have talent? Absolutely but they are not winners and Miami made a mistake.

Walker is a three-time All-Star. He's in Sheed's range although I agree that he's not quite as good. Close enough for me though. :) Yea, this is a risky move but I believe that Riles spent time to get to know him and did some homework. It was his judgement call....Also, you gotta realize that the East is continually getting better. Your boys the Nets won't be going to the Finals this year but they'll still be better than they were last year and there is no doubt that they are a legit playoff team...and Indiana is getting Artest back which should put them right up there with the Heat and Detroit. The power balance is defenitely shifting between the conferences. I'd say that the East and West are about even now as far as the top teams are concerned.
