And next week, the 2002 Lynden Christian graduate will begin his professional career fighting for a roster spot with the Miami Dolphins as an offensive tackle.
“Oh, it’s great and I’m really excited to go down there and see what I can do,” Heerspink said.
At team camp, Heerspink will be one of 80 players to start with hopes of making the 53-man roster. The others will either be cut or make the team’s scout squad.
“Obviously the goal is to make the 53-man roster,” he said. “But anytime you can get to stay, that is a great opportunity.”
